Digital Royalty Launches Social Media Training Site

Today, social media consultancy Digital Royalty introduces the online Digital Royalty University: classes in social media, company culture, and personal growth.

Digital Royalty University is based on the team’s years of social media work for personalities like Shaquille O’Neal and The Rock, as well as clients like DoubleTree and the Chicago White Sox. Kicked off by Amy Jo Martin, their strategies, out-of-the-box ideas, and tips are now available to individuals and businesses online.

“We’ve seen the increased need for social media education for all levels within an organization, from legal to HR and marketing,” says Martin.

The site is launching with four classes: 8 Royal Rules (Parts 1 and 2), Twitter 101, and Facebook 101. They include lessons, discussion boards, and challenges to practice your learning. 8 Royal Rules Part 1 is free, and the others cost around $35. Other classes will follow.

For every hour of class purchased, Digital Royalty is also donating one hour of class to a low-income teacher. Martin was inspired by the efforts of Teach for America in Las Vegas, where her team moved after receiving funding from Tony Hsieh of the Downtown Project and NBA player Baron Davis. They also plan to open a physical classroom in Las Vegas.

The platform launching today grew out of Digital Royalty’s behind-the-scenes work with corporate clients. Since early 2011, they have been offering customized classes for companies like FOX Sports, Ultimate Fighting Championship, and SELF magazine, tailored to the skills and needs of each group.

Today’s launch also coincides with the debut of Martin’s book, Renegades Write the Rules: How the Digital Royalty Use Social Media to INNOVATE.
