DC’s HelloWallet Updates Its iPhone App to Help You Save More Money

Personal finance tool HelloWallet launched version 2 of its iPhone app today, with new features that help you manage your money on the go.

If your employer offers a HelloWallet membership, you can do your setup on the iPhone – including linking bank and credit card accounts to monitor transactions. If you see a pink, frilly Easter basket you have to have, you can also add “Holiday decorations” as a new budget category within the app. And instead of waiting for the purchase to show up in HelloWallet from your bank account, just manually enter it right away (and it’ll synch up with the bank records later).

“Our goal is to help you take control of your finances through actionable financial guidance. With the iPhone app, you can pull up that guidance right as you’re making a purchase,” explains marketing manager Justin Thorp.

HelloWallet released its original iPhone app last November, with tools for tracking spending, building budgets, setting goals, and more. They also use AI to offer personalized financial advice. As always, the DC startup provides one free account to a needy family for every 5 paying subscribers (see CEO Matt Fellowes on democratizing financial advice).

The company raised $12 million in series B funding in January, after a $3.6 million series A. An Android app will also be released this quarter.
