The first smile, the first steps, the first bottle…every parent agrees that life with a new baby is full of magical moments. But let’s be honest, any help you can get when it comes to becoming a better parent is great. And if it’s an app, even better!
Baby Bundle
If you prefer a one-stop app for everything baby, Baby Bundle is the app for you. It includes monitoring tools for daily activities (from feeding to diaper changes) to growth tracking to health reference (because searching on the web for symptoms is not enough). The app is free and available on iOS.
Cloud Baby Monitor
Cloud Baby Monitor turns your iOS or any of your Apple devices into a video baby monitor. The setup is easy: one device stays with your baby and you watch live video and audio on your other devices. $4 for this baby monitor app beats a $300 fancy monitor anytime.
Baby Sprout
This app is also the complete package when it comes to monitoring: feeding, pumping, solid food, diaper changes, growth, and immunization trackers. It includes a multi-user “share” mode that syncs information across devices so you can share updates with your partner. You can also add your own photos and little captions for those big moments and then share them on social media. Free.
Sound Sleeper
Let’s get to the important stuff: getting them to sleep so you can sleep. Sound Sleeper is a free app that helps your baby relax and drift gently off to sleep with real sounds of nature and the city. It also has a sleep tracking component and sound recorder.
iVaccines
iVaccines is a reminder and tracker with vaccine descriptions and customized alerts for upcoming vaccinations. Unlike the other apps that include an immunization tool, iVaccine is specialized in everything immunization. For example, it uses your region’s immunization schedule to automatically send out reminders for any upcoming vaccination. This is a free app available on Android.
My Baby Today
Do you need some support and advice for your new baby? This app relies on the BabyCenter Medical Advisory Board for all advice and answers for when you wonder, “Is this normal?” It also connects parents with other parents to create a community for every developmental stage. The app is free.
LeapFrog Songs: Scout’s Music
No toy is complete without an app. LeapFrog Songs is a fun and personalized app that helps your toddler develop learning skills, including 12 sing-along songs exploring the alphabet, counting, identifying animals, and more. Did I mention there is a cuddly bear, too? The app is only $0.99.
Pandora – Lullaby Station
My mother used to sing lullabies to help me sleep. Now, there’s an app for that, too.
