Always Prepped, the Chevy Chase, MD-based education company that offers a school data management platform, has been acquired by Alma, a Portland, OR-based startup that provides schools with both a Learning Management System (LMS) and Student Information System (SIS) in one platform. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
“Our acquisition of Always Prepped is an exciting step in our mission to bring advanced workflow automation and data analytics to the K-12 space,” said Alma CEO and cofounder Andrew Herman, in a statement “We are also thrilled to have Fahad Hassan join our leadership team. His decade of experience with early and late state companies in the ed-tech space will serve Alma and our connection to the industry well.”
Launched in 2012, Always Prepped’s student engagement platform provides a variety of online tools that enables teachers to manage their students and classroom data. By pulling together data from different sources, the platform provides valuable analytics that can show things such as correlations in the data regarding attendance, assessments, behavior, and classroom performance. According to Always Prepped founder and CEO Fahad Hassan, the acquisition comes at a point when the company needed to pursue a fully-integrated SIS approach, and Alma’s platform enables that.
This acquisition deal will bolster Alma’s data integration capabilities, allowing them to further understand data analytics and provide them with additional insights for educators at both classroom and administrative levels. As part of the acquisition, Hassan will join Alma at its Washington, DC office to help support the the growth of its client base.
Founded in February 2014, Alma’s client base has quickly grown – with schools in 37 states and 24 countries utilizing its platform.
