10 Visual Content Marketing Statistics to Consider in 2017 [Infographic]

With a new year ahead of us, marketers will be looking for ways to stay ahead of the curve. After all, a new year means new trends, new strategies, and new ideas to tackle in the marketing world.

Visual content marketing is a field that is constantly evolving. With so many affordable graphic design softwares available to marketers to create their own visuals, more and more people who don’t have traditional design training are taking on their own design projects.

Venngage surveyed over 300 marketers to see what worked for them in 2016 and what didn’t, and to see the role they expect visual content to play in their 2017 marketing strategies. While some of their findings are to be expected, like the fact that 90 percent of marketers surveyed said they used visuals in over half of the content they published, or how the use of visual content by marketers increased by 130 percent from 2015 to 2016.

However, some of the stats might surprise you. For instance, there was a lot of buzz over the last year about how video content is king. But only 15.2 percent of marketers surveyed said that they used video and presentations more than anything else. On top of that, only 20.2 percent of marketers surveyed said that video content performed the best, as opposed to the 41.5 percent of marketers who said that infographics and other original graphics performed the best.

How will you use these trends to guide your content marketing strategy in the coming year? Here are some new visual content marketing statistics you should know for 2017.
