Aside from living and breathing it 24×7 here at Tech Cocktail, we’ve seen movies like The Social Network bring the entrepreneurial story to the big screen, celebrities jumping into tech investments and the Facebook IPO and Instagram acquisition that catch mainstream attention, bringing tech entrepreneurship to the forefront. So it comes as no surprise that Simon Cowell and Will.i.am are reportedly working on a new television program, X Factor For Tech, that will look for the next great tech entrepreneur. In a recent interview, Will.i.am commented:
“We’re working on a project called X Factor for Tech — and it’s going to be out of this world.”
While the show is sure to help participants gain exposure, Simon and Will are also hoping the new show creates more jobs, thus helping the economy. It is not Will.i.am’s first tech dabbling as you may recall him being named creative director for Intel last year.
If you feel brave and are looking for TV fame and potentially some financial backing, you might want to keep your eye on the development of the X-Factor for Tech program. Since the odds of making it on the show are stacked against you, make sure you also research other options like startup accelerators or one of the startup competitions currently running.
