This morning, it was officially announced that 10Pearls – a software app development company located in Herndon, VA – has acquired Gemini Security Solutions. The acquisition is largely motivated by the company’s recognition that data be kept secure throughout the design and development process than merely being a secondary component.
As part of this acquisition, the Washington Business Journal reports that the current employees of the information security firm will join 10Pearls’s current staff in Northern Virginia. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“With the acquisition of the Gemini Security team, we complete the formation of our Five Centers of Excellence Strategy,” said 10Pearls CEO Imran Aftab in a statement. These Centers include delivering the highest quality product/project management, architecture, UX/UI design, software development, and information security.
In light of infrastructure liabilities like the Heartbleed bug, as well as the recent security breaches at Snapchat, eBay, Target, and even more recently the briefly popular Yo, securing data has never been more vital. Especially now, with the nascence of the Internet of Things, 10Pearls believes that security needs to be a top priority in the development process. With the acquisition of Gemini Security, that data security is made essential throughout the entire process of development – built into the software architecture – rather than simply being an afterthought.
“We are excited to be part of the 10Pearls family,” said Gemini Security Solutions CEO, Peter Hesse, in a statement. “As one team, we now provide tremendous value to businesses seeking to build enterprise-grade mobile and software solutions.”
