The idea of a show that allows entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas for a shot at winning the investment they need isn’t new: We’ve seen plenty of them, from Shark Tank to the podcast show The Pitch. Why? Because they rock. I’m happy to say that the genre is continuing in an entirely new format, Facebook Watch.
Entrepreneurs: ready your pitches. Facebook’s renewed interest in video has led it to create an entirely new channel on it’s mammoth social platform, it needs new shows, and a Shark Tank-style business show is the newest.
Hootsuite CEO Ryan Holmes will host the new Shark Tank-style entrepreneurial-focused Facebook Watch show, which is titled ‘LOI: Live Pitch’ in reference to Ryan’s mentorship non-profit, League of Innovators.
How You Can Get in On It
The casting premiere kicks off September 5th. Entrepreneurs aged 18 – 25 are invited to pitch their business ideas on Facebook Live — they’ll have just 200 characters to capture the attention of Ryan and a celebrity guest.
If you make it through the live pitch session, you’ll be featured on an episode of the Facebook Watch show, and will have a shot at making it to the final round of competition. The winner’s prize? $10,000 towards getting their award-winning entrepeneural plan up and running, along with mentorship directly from Ryan himself.
Here’s how Ryan explains it in — of course — a Facebook Live video:

Ryan’s guest host for the premiere September 5 Facebook Live session will be the best-selling author, entrepreneur and former pro athlete Lewis Howes. Start preparing your pitches now. Next week, Shark Tank goes social.
