10 Business Major Scholarships Worth Applying For

Majoring in business can open doors to a variety of careers, from those in finance to management, sales, or entrepreneurship. That could be why more business degrees are awarded than any other major. If you’re considering a business related course of study, here are 10 scholarships that can help fund your degree. Save this list to make it easy to find scholarships later:

  1. General Electric/LNESC Scholarship Program
    General Electric (GE) and the educational arm of League of United Latin American Citizens (LNESC) partnered to award $5,000 scholarships to disadvantaged minority students. The student must be working toward a bachelor's degree in business or engineering, enrolled as a sophomore at a U.S. accredited college or university, and have a GPA of at least 3.25 to be considered for the GE/LNESC Scholarship Program. To apply, applicants must submit their college transcript, a resume, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement describing their career goals.
    Advantage: This scholarship is renewable up to three years.
  2. The Dell Scholars Program Scholarship
    Dell grants hundreds of $20,000 scholarships to underprivileged high school students every year. The Dell Scholars Program Scholarship goes to a student the board deems determined to succeed. Students must also demonstrate financial need, have a 2.4 GPA or better, and be enrolling in college as a business or technology major. In addition to financial support, a laptop, and textbook credits, the scholarship provides assistance to help students through the emotional challenges college can present.
    Advantage: Unlike scholarships awarded solely on academic achievement, this scholarship’s GPA requirement takes the applicant’s Grit, Potential, and Ambition into consideration.
  3. Frontier Business Edge Scholarship
    The recipient of the Frontier Business Edge Scholarship receives a non-renewable $1,500 scholarship to use toward qualified expenses like tuition, books, and on-campus room and board. A $1,000 second place scholarship and $500 third place award are also awarded. To qualify, you must be high school senior with a 2.5 GPA or better, who took the SAT or ACT, and plan to attend an accredited college or university full-time in the fall. Applicants are required to write an essay answering three questions about how Cloud computing changed business. Professional writers judge the essay based on its originality, grammar, and persuasiveness.
    Advantage: This scholarship is easy to apply for and allows the funds to be used in a number of ways.
  4. Abercrombie and Fitch Future Leaders Scholarship
    Administered by the ¡Adelante! Fund, the Abercrombie and Fitch Future Leaders Scholarship offers $1,000 awards to Hispanic undergraduate students who exhibit leadership potential. Applicants must be business or management majors, have a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. The student must also submit official transcripts, two reference letters, and a 250-word essay outlining their business leadership goals.
    Advantage: In addition to scholarship funds, ¡Adelante! offers a wealth of video resources to help college students succeed.
  5. GEICO Achievement Award Program
    GEICO issues several $2,500 scholarships annually through its Achievement Award Program. To qualify for one of the renewable awards, a student must demonstrate leadership ability, have a 3.0 GPA or better, and be enrolled as a sophomore or junior at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. They must be pursuing a degree in business, computer science, mathematics, or a related program.
    Advantage: Multiple scholarships are offered each year and awards are renewable.
  6. National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Young Entrepreneur Awards
    The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards scholarship is designed to help America’s youngest business owners pursue their dreams while getting a good education. To be eligible for an award of up to $10,000, the applicant must be a high school senior who owns their own business and shows outstanding leadership skills. Scholarship money can be applied to tuition, books, or other college related fees.
    Advantage:
    Scholarships of up to $10,000 are available.
  7. Cappex Business Majors Scholarship
    As the name implies, the Cappex Business Majors Scholarship helps qualified business majors with their tuition expenses. There’s no minimum GPA requirements, but applicants should show an aptitude for leadership and be engaged in volunteer and extracurricular activities. The average scholarship award is $1,000 and students can reapply for the scholarship each year.
    Advantage: No minimum GPA.
  8. Women in Public Finance Scholarship
    The Women in Public Finance Scholarship is designed to encourage young women to consider a career in business or finance. To apply, the student must be a female, college-bound senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA. She must intend on enrolling in a business or finance program, should have experience in leadership roles, and participate in extracurricular or volunteer activities. The scholarship is not renewable.
    Advantage: This scholarship is only open to women enrolling in business or finance programs, so fewer applicants are apt to be vying for funds.
  9. National Black MBA Association Scholarship
    Scholarships granted by the National Black MBA Association range from $1,000 to $10,000, and are available to both undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in business, academia, and related professions. To be considered for a National Black MBA Association Scholarship, an applicant must be an association member enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university with a 3.0 GPA or above. Applicants must also submit an essay and resume and demonstrate leadership potential.
    Advantage: This scholarship is open to students who major in business as well as other courses of study, so students may still qualify for the scholarship if they change majors.
  10. Emerging School Business Leaders Scholarship
    The Emerging School Business Leaders Scholarship is administered through the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO). The scholarship awards $2,000 annually to budding business professionals who want to further their education and build contacts in the business sector. Qualified candidates must show a passion for business management, have at least five years of experience, and write a one-page essay outlining what they can offer the ASBO.
    Advantage: Open to applicants who have already graduated from college.
