Name Your Own Ticket Price for Sporting Events and Concerts at Scorebig

ScoreBig is the new way to score discounted tickets for sporting events, concerts and other live events – just name your price for available tickets.  The ticket inventory comes directly from venues, sports teams, and promoters rather than other fans that cannot  attend an event at the last minute.  This allows users to get 10-70% off regular prices on all types of  live events, even months in advance.

The LA-based startup is out to solve the problem of unsold inventory at live events, but more than that, “the goal of Score Big is to get more people to live events” as VP of Product Laura Goldberg put it.  They are doing this by offering great prices on their very user-friendly site.

Finding live events is as simple as browsing venues or specific sports teams and naming your price.  If your offer is accepted, you get the tickets.   The best part is that tickets are always at least 10% off retail value, and there are no additional fees.  The site has been in beta since 2010, and it is members-only, similar to flash sales sites like Gilt and Rue La La.  There is currently a waiting list to join as ScoreBig tries to balance new members with available inventory.  Tech Cocktail readers can bypass the waiting line by visiting this link.

Goldman said a couple of common misconceptions are that tickets are only available for less popular events and poor seats. However, she says that while “Superbowl tickets may not be available, tickets for the NBA and NHL playoffs were available this summer.”  And as far as seat location, seats are available from courtside to nose bleed.

The site is very intuitive to use, boasts great inventory and a great team leading the effort.  It was co-founded by Adam Kanner, former VP of relationship marketing and business development for the NBA, and Joel Milne, founder of To date, they have received $26 million in funding, including funding from Bain Capital Partners and U.S Venture Partners.
