Pixels Can Turn Your Art Into a Yoga Mat

Picking out your yoga mat can either be pragmatic or personal depending on the individual’s needs. For some, having a special design on their mat can set the tone for their Zen moment and bring some uniqueness to their practice. Today, you can create your own background for your yoga mat either from an artistic creation or your own collection.

Pixels, the largest art and print on-demand marketplace, launched a new line of customizable yoga mats where customers can choose their design from over 500,000 artists and 15+ million images. The purpose of this new line of products is to help educate people about the benefits of yoga and a healthy lifestyle.

Inspire Community

In talking with Pixels CEO, Sean Broihier, printing artistically inspired yoga mats stems from his company’s focus on a healthy lifestyle.

“Our company is based in Santa Monica, CA, which is a very health conscious part of the country, and fitness is a way of life here. Introducing yoga mats is a perfect fit for our business. We get to showcase incredible works of art from the 500,000+ independent artists who are members of our site, and we get to partner with prominent yoga studios, instructors, and influencers in our local community to help spread the word about our unique product offering,” Sean said.

Another goal for these mats is to inspire community.

“At the very least, I think our eye-catching designs might get non-yogis to talk to someone carrying or using one of our mats, and maybe… just maybe… that person decides to give yoga a try. In general, I really enjoy physical activity,” Sean said.

Yoga mats aren’t the only type of outdoor products where artists can showcase and earn money for their work.

“Introducing yoga mats is part of our decades-long plan to help artists showcase and sell their designs in a variety of formats outside of traditional “wall art.” We introduce four to five new products each year. This year, it was round beach towels, portable battery chargers, tote bags, and now… yoga mats. Ultimately, the online shoppers who buy yoga mats support our living artists from all over the world,” Sean said.

Turn Your Image Into a Yoga Mat

Whether you’re an artist or a smartphone photography ninja, you can have your images placed onto your own yoga mat and sell them online. Imagine rolling out your mat that unveils the beautiful ocean sunset photo you took on your last beach vacation.

According to Sean, the company sets a base price for the yoga mats and the artists can add their own markups to that price. Once an order is placed, the company will take it from there, manufacture the yoga mat, print the image on it and ship it directly to the customer within two to three business days. The artist will receive payment 30 days later.

If you just want one for youself, click on the “CREATE” link on Pixels.com, upload the image, position it on the yoga mat using the online interface, and then place your order.

“I think everyone should spend at least 30 to 60 minutes each day doing something physical, and if our yoga launch and our community events get a few more people up and moving, that's good enough for me,” Sean said.
