PowerInbox Raises $6.5M and Launches Live Content Email Widgets

Dynamic email provider PowerInbox has been arguing for years that email is the best channel for best response marketing. Their recent numbers have pretty much proven their case. In 2015, the company saw an increase of 700 percent in emails where PowerInbox code was inserted, a 1,400 percent growth in impressions and 2,000 percent growth in revenue.

They recently closed a $6.5 M Series A round from new and existing investors including Battery Ventures, Genesis Partners and Maverick Ventures. The funding will be used to continue and accelerate the growth they’ve been experiencing. The company is currently embedded in over 2.5 billion emails sent a month from over 500 email newsletters and optimizes over 30,000 different pieces of content per day.

“This round from both new and existing investors is a vote of confidence for the revenue and customer growth PowerInbox has delivered in the last 18 months,” said Jeff Kupietzky, CEO, PowerInbox in a statement. “This funding will enable PowerInbox to efficiently and effectively scale our business with real product innovations.”

One of PowerInbox’s biggest features is DynamicMail which lets you send fully functioning video emails. The emails play right within the email through the use of an embed code, meaning readers don’t have to click through to get to the video content. Since video has become such a huge marketing tool in recent years, having that kind of content right in the email can help engage readers more quickly and on a higher level.

Now they they have added Live Content Widgets for video, social, and other live content that can be easily integrated into video. These can personalized images & video, real-time Instagram, Twitter, & RSS feeds, weather, timers and tickers. This kinds of dynamic components in emails can increase conversion rates by 30 percent.

Another feature they offer is RevenueStripe, a content discovery platform that is curated by PowerInbox from the most interesting video content across the web. This content is recommended to clients who use RevenueStripe for them to implement in their email marketing.

“After PowerInbox demonstrated strong growth from both the DynamicMail email marketing solution and the RevenueStripe in email content recommendation ad network, we’re excited to increase our investment in PowerInbox to support the company’s product and go-to-market strategy to intelligently and efficiently scale its business,” said Scott Tobin, General Partner, Battery Ventures and a Director at PowerInbox, in a statement.

This kind of dynamic content could be what changes how email is used. It will be interesting to see how PowerInbox continues to innovate.
