Tech.Co is Heading to Chi-Town to Find This Year’s Top Startups

Chicago, we love. While Tech.Co’s headquarters is now based in Downtown Las Vegas, our early roots are founded in the Chi. And, I mean, there’s plenty of reasons why a lot of great startups are born in Chicago – it’s simply a great place to start and build company. Just last week, we named the top 20 Chicago startup founders under the age of 30, which highlights some of the great things coming out of the city. This August, Tech.Co heads back to where it all began, and we’re on the lookout for this year’s Chicago Startup of the Year.

We’ve had many great Chicago startups pitch our events before, and we can’t wait to see what else Chicago has for us. There is, for example, WeDeliver – the company that provides a hyperlocal, same-day delivery service for local merchants –  who pitched at a Tech.Co event back in 2013. Since then, the company has gone through Techstars Chicago, received an investment from Steve Case, and raised $800,000 in seed funding.

At this year’s Tech.Co Celebrate Conference, winners of our regional competitions will get the opportunity to pitch their ideas at our global pitch competition and win the coveted title of Tech.Co Startup of the Year.

But there’s a lot more to win than just the title. All competitors at the global Startup of the Year competition will get the opportunity to be accepted into a top, U.S.-based accelerator. What’s more, CEA will select one of the pitching startups as the winner of a Consumer Electronics Startup Prize Package. The prize provides the startup with a trip to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016, including hotel and travel stipend to Las Vegas, floor space at Eureka Park, and 10 CES exhibitor badges.

There are two ways a startup can qualify for the Tech.Co Celebrate 2015 global competition via our events:

  1. Reader’s Choice Poll: Tech.Co readers will have a chance to vote for their favorite regional startup, determined by an online poll. The poll will be live until 5PM EST the day of the event.
  2. Pitch Competition: Startups showcasing at the mixer and startup showcase will get to pitch for 60 seconds. Then, Tech Cocktail attendees will have a chance to vote for their favorite regional startups after all the 60-second pitches are complete.
