Social Tables Raises $13M To Create Next Generation of Event Planning Software

Today Washington, D.C. based Social Tables has announced the successful close of a $13 million series B round. The round is led by Maryland based QuestMark Partners, and has continued participation by Bessemer Venture Partners, Thayer Capital, Fortify Ventures, and Middleland Capital. In a statement about the new capital injection, a company spokesman stated that Social Tables will use much of the new funding to build and support their next generation of products set for a 2017 release.

“Social Tables has successfully brought event planning into the 21st century and the company’s growing customer base represents the large market need,” said QuestMark Partners Partner Brian Matthews. “We are proud to lead this new round of funding and partner with an exceptional team, as they continue growing the business and product to modernize the industry.”

Social Tables, a SaaS based company, provides cloud based collaborative event planning solutions to make events easier to manage online. From seat arrangements and design to day-of executive, Social Tables supports both event planners and the properties that host the event.

“At Social Tables, we want to see a world with more successful meetings and events. We believe technology can get us there. For the past few years, customers have been using our platform to design and execute better meetings. This funding enables us to tackle a broader set of industry challenges that will help us reach our vision faster,” said Social Tables Founder and CEO Dan Berger.

According to a company spokesman, Social Tables is currently used by more than 100,000 professionals across 4,300 customers. Since launching, their software has supported the planning of more than one million events across the 1.5 billion square feet of event space within their network.

To date Social Tables has raised $22.6 million since the company was founded in 2011. In February of this year, the team moved into a new 30,000 square foot office, and has since been home to many locally organized tech events.

“If anyone says DC isn’t a ‘tech town,’ companies like Social Tables are proving them wrong,” said Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. “Today’s announcement is proof of the District’s growing entrepreneurial community – with leaders in data, technology, public policy and inclusive innovation. My Administration will continue to put more tools in the hands of entrepreneurs, like Dan, to unleash new technologies and industries that will improve DC and put more residents on the pathway to the middle class.”
