History of Tech.co
Tech.co started out as a simple community-building Tech Cocktail event, and has transformed into a fully-fledged media company with millions of readers around the world.
The company was co-founded in 2006 by former Tribune and AOL product strategist, long-time tech blogger, and new media pioneer Frank Gruber and early Feedburner employee Eric Olson as a way to better amplify the local Chicago tech startup scene. In 2010, Frank joined forces with Jen Consalvo, a former director at AOL, to scale the company into a powerhouse for tech events and media.
Over the years, Tech.co has hosted hundreds of community events, created programs designed to help elevate and educate startups, and worked with dozens of Fortune 500 clients, guiding them with strategies, events, content, and programs to connect them with tech savvy audiences and startups.
In December 2017, Tech.co was acquired by MVF, a global business that owns a number of leading digital publications and resource guides.
In 2025, we aim to translate our passion for tech into insightful news and analysis, helpful buyers’ guides and practical resources, so you can grow your business, work smarter, and secure your success, now and in the future.
How We Make Money
Tech.co is reader-supported. In other words, while our content is created impartially and independently so you can find the right information and technology that you need, we may receive a commission when we help to connect you with solutions.
Some of our pages will provide you with a form where you can request custom pricing for your business’ needs. Some of our links will take you to a third party website, where you may find deals and discounts, or the option to sign up to or purchase a product or service.
If you decide to use our pricing form or links to get information, visit a supplier’s website, sign up to a service, or make a purchase, we may receive a referral fee from the supplier(s) of the technology you’re interested in. This helps Tech.co to provide free information and reviews, and carries no additional cost to you.
Our commercial partnerships do not affect our editorial impartiality or integrity. Ratings and rankings on Tech.co cannot be bought. Our reviews are based on objective research analysis. Rare exceptions to this will be marked clearly as a ‘sponsored’ table column, or explained by a full advertising disclosure on the page.
