What Is Base44 and How Does Vibe Coding Work?
Base44 is a no-code platform that lets users build their own apps from written prompts. Rather than relying on programming languages, such as Java or Kotlin, Base44 uses AI to generate its apps.
This is also known as “vibe coding,” and it means that users can build programs quickly and spend more time making iterative improvements. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of some key Base44 features:
- Generates an unlimited number of apps
- Limited free plan available
- Domain connectivity
- Full-stack capabilities
- Built-in integration with Stripe
- Authentication and user management are built into every published app
Pros
- Very easy to use, even for beginners
- Affordable starting price
- Integrations with HubSpot, Slack, X, and more

Hands-On Review of Base44
I signed up for the Base44 free plan in October 2025. Right out of the gate, I was supremely impressed with how easy it was to get started.
With a simple natural language prompt (in this case, “build me a flashlight app”), the platform generated a functional app, with an app preview, that did exactly what I asked. It also provided an explanation of its process in the chat box, so I knew exactly what it was doing and why.
There were some aspects of the generated app that I wanted to change, like the color and font size of the lettering on the flashlight button. With another simple prompt (“enlarge the font size and change the color to green”), I was able to almost immediately edit the app.
Getting the app deployed was even easier. With the “Publish” button in the upper right corner you can immediately publish the app for web usage or scan the app for the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. If there are any issues, you can get AI to fix them for you, so that the app is ready to be published.
All in all, the experience of creating and publishing an app with Base44 took under a minute, while still providing me with the basic customizability users need when it comes to these kinds of generations.
How Much Does Base44 Cost?
Base44 pricing starts at $20 per month for paid plans, with its most expensive option costing $160 per month. There is also a free plan available with strict usage limits. Here’s how much they cost, depending on your contract length:
| Free | Starter | Builder | Pro | Elite | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price (billed annually) | Free | $20/month | $40/month | $80/month | $160/month |
| Price (billed monthly) | Free | $25/month | $50/month | $100/month | $200/month |
| Credits/month | 25 | 100 | 250 | 500 | 1,200 |
| Integrations/month | 100 | 2,000 | 10,000 | 20,000 | 50,000 |
Based on our analysis of its pricing plans and credit allotments, Base44 provides high value, particularly if you can get by with the free plan to validate product ideas in a highly functional sandbox.
For those with more complex needs, Base44 offers flexible pricing options, with four different paid options, more than most other vibe coding platforms.
Is Base44 free?
Yes, Base44 has a free plan with no time limit, so you can use the platform and generate apps at no cost.
The free plan from Base44 does have strict usage limits, though, including only 25 message credits per month and 100 integrations per month.
With the free plan, you have access to all of Base44 core functionality, including AI app building, integrated backend and database system, cloud storage, analytics dashboard, and the responsive visual editor.

What Are the Core Features of the Base44 AI App Builder?
Base44 is a vibe coding platform, but what does that mean? Here’s a breakdown of the key features from the service, so you can understand exactly how Base44 works.
- Text-to-app generation: Base44 allowed us to easily generate fully functioning apps with natural language prompts. In our hands-on testing, we were able to generate a flashlight app from a single prompt in 10 seconds.
- One-click deployment and hosting: As soon as we pushed the Publish button, our app was live, because Base44 provides hosting and deployment via the Wix infrastructure.
- AI model selection: With the Builder, Pro, and Elite plans, Base44 allowed us to choose between specific models, like Claude 3.5 and GPT-4o, before generating our app.
- Integrations: Base44 offers an app library of 25 third party integrations, including Salesforce, Slack, Google Workspace, LinkedIn, and more. Base44 also offers a GitHub integration, but only on its Builder, Pro, and Elite plans.
- Ease of use: Base44 is an exceptionally easy to use vibe coding platform, requiring zero coding knowledge to build an app. The clean interface and basic drag-and-drop visual editor make it particularly simple for beginners.

Do I own the code generated by Base44?
Yes, according to Base44, you technically own the code that you generate on the vibe coding platform. The terms and conditions state that you own the “generated output & input data” from apps created with the platform.
However, that ownership comes with some caveats. You cannot export your full source code unless you pay for the Builder, Pro, or Elite plans, which unlock the GitHub integration.
Additionally, because Base44 is a locked-in system, you will not be able to host your generated app on your own server. You will have to use the Wix infrastructure through Base44 to do so.
Base44 code ownership is more restrictive than other platforms, like Lovable or Bolt.new.
Is Base44 Right for Beginners or Developers?
Base44 is a great no-code app developer for both software developers and casual users alike. The former will relish the opportunity to quickly spin up and deploy apps with next to no effort, as it allows you to validate product ideas before bringing them to market.
In addition, developers that work in an agile environment — in which products are deployed quickly and then improved iteratively — will find much to enjoy with Base44. By bringing your creation to life and publishing it, you can then focus the bulk of your efforts on delivering the best possible experience to the end user — a nice alternative to being stuck in development hell.
At the same time, Base44 is a great solution for everyday users who are curious about the possibilities of no-code building. Users will be able to generate their own apps quickly, which they can share with their peers and have fun in the process.
What are the latest Base44 updates in 2026?
In a February 2026 update, Base44 finally added the ability to publish generated apps directly onto the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. In the same update, Base44 made it possible for users to plan out apps more efficiently with Plan Mode and to integrate apps with Gmail.
What Are Some Alternatives to Base44?
The best Base44 alternatives for 2026 include Replit because of its advanced prompting tools, Bolt.new for its direct code transparency during generation, Lovable thanks to its massive library of user-created templates, and Create for its single-prompt functionality.
Check out the table below for a breakdown of some other Base44 alternatives.
| Brand | Price | Free plan | Full-stack app generation Does the platform build both the frontend and backend of the app for you? | Browser-based platform Can you access the platform on a browser without downloading an app? | Real-time collaboration Can multiple users collaborate in real-time on the platform? | |

At Tech.co, research is an integral part of the reviewing and ranking process for business software. After all, how you can trust our judgement when it comes to platform recommendations if we aren't making a comprehensive effort to evaluate them in a real way?
For vibe coding platforms, our expert team of writers and editors took time with a variety of resources, including online guides, documentation, and pricing pages, to see what was on offer.
On top of that we also made sure to get hands-on experience, in order to get a feel for how the platforms actually operate.
More specifically, we focused on the features and functionalities that are available with particular vibe coding platforms, so we can more effectively compare and contrast what is available. Here are some of the criteria with which we review vibe coding platforms.
- Full-stack capabilities: Full-stack describes a platform's ability to generate and customize apps on the frontend and backend. Not all platforms can do both, which is why we took this into consideration when evaluating vibe coding options.
- Customization: Platforms have varying levels of customizability, allowing you to change how apps look with specific tools, like drag-and-drop editors, so you can understand what kind of control you have over your generated apps.
- Integrations: Vibe coding platforms, like most business software, can integrate with other services, like GitHub, Stripe, and Slack, so we make sure to evaluate how extensive these kinds of integrations are for each platform.
- Ease of use: Vibe coding platforms can get confusing fast, which is why we analyzed how easy it is to actually use the platform and navigate its features.
- Coding importance: Some of the options reviewed are true no-code platforms, while others are very code-heavy, which is why we look at this metric to understand exactly how technical you need to be to use it.
