Another thing that separates Zoom Phone from much of its competition is its smooth user journey. When I tested Zoom Phone, I was really impressed by how clean and simple its interface was. Its integration with Google Calendar was seamless too. In fact, I was able to sync the VoIP platform and my calendar in a couple of seconds, which was really useful.

This is a great way of ensuring that even when you’re pulled into an impromptu meeting, you can still keep track of your time to accurately invoice your clients.
Furthermore, session timeout for third-party apps has been extended from 7 days to 30. As long as you remain active within the app, your session will automatically be renewed. This way, you won’t have to sign in as many times, and your overall experience will be more seamless and less frustrating.

You’ll get unlimited domestic text messaging and free Google Meet integration to accompany its voice calling functionality. You’ll also get outstanding security options, with data encryption, secure storage, and 24/7 customer support. This is a real coup on an entry-level VoIP plan, and something that magicJack certainly doesn’t offer.

However, there are areas where Google Business Starter falls down in comparison to some of the other VoIP solutions on the market. For example, it has quite a poor range of features. There is no call recording, firstly, which is pretty common across other solutions on the market. Nor can users create Ring Groups, which allow multiple people in your organization to answer a call from the same Google Voice number. There is call forwarding, but no barge, monitor, or whisper, meaning that you won’t be able to offer your agents much in the way of on-call support.
For very small teams, the absence of Ring Groups shouldn’t present too much of an issue. For example, if you have 3 sales agents in your team, it’s unlikely that they share clients, meaning they won’t need to participate in each other’s calls. But for larger businesses that want to hire and onboard new agents, the inability to monitor and take part in others’ calls could be a stumbling block.

Any messages that are sent and received on Google Voice are securely stored in Google’s data centers, which are renowned for their privacy. This data is encrypted before it reaches the data center, to ensure that it can’t be accessed. At the same time, all Google accounts offer in-built spam, phishing, and malware detection.

This plan is definitely on the expensive side, especially when compared to the likes of Dialpad, which offers superior inbound calling features, help and support, and comparable security options. What’s more, its feature set is not exactly abundant. In fact, Zoom Metered offers a lot more functionality at a fraction of the cost.

In truth, there isn’t much to separate Unlimited from the Metered plan. The main difference is the inclusion of unlimited domestic calls, which you won’t have access to on Metered. It’s unlikely that microbusinesses will need this kind of functionality. However, if your business has the potential to grow rapidly, it does afford a degree of flexibility.
