Worried About Ebola? Practice Prevention with CDC Gaming App, Solve the Outbreak

Ebola has reached New York City and you’re freaking out.

Well, we have the app for you.  If you’re considering a career in the sciences, a teacher looking for a great new way to show epidemiology at work, or a germ nerd of any age, Solve the Outbreak is an app that allows users a peek into the work real-life Disease Detectives do every day to keep us safe. Brought to you by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the app has just released an update for app that puts you in the shoes of a member of the Epidemic Intelligence Service.

In the game, there is a new outbreak happening every day and it’s your job to be on the front lines, working 24/7 to save lives and protect people. When a new outbreak happens, Disease Detectives are sent in to figure out how the outbreak started before it spreads further.

The app intends to be an educational resources for students and teachers, but given our current state of mind thanks to the news media outlets, it can be an alternative for you not to lose your mind.
