What Is PerformYard?

Functionality and quality are two of the PerformYard's core benefits, and this is reflected in its simple and streamlined solution. The software interface offers a single centralized dashboard that lets managers, team leads, and employees throughout an organization stay on top of their reviews and goals. Feedback is a dialogue – comments and praise can be shared on an ongoing basis, rather than delivered as a yearly lecture.

The service offers a limited number of integrations with other services, and a solid range of customer support options (though support is limited to business hours rather than 24/7). The PerformYard service won't do everything, but does include an Enterprise plan that includes plenty of customization, for those operations with specific needs.

Read on for Tech.co's full review, which looks at all of PerformYard's key features and support options. We also look at its refreshingly simple pricing scheme, before delivering our final verdict on this performance management software.

PerformYard: Core Performance Management Features

Performance Reviews

At PerformYard, reviews can be downward, upward, lateral, self, or external, while cycles can be customized to any business' liking. Once managers have launched a review, they can track their employees' progress in filling it out via a live dashboard, just to make sure everything's going according to schedule.

Any previous feedback, earlier assessments, or new employee goal performance metrics can be easily included with reviews as well. The software also supports 1-on-1s, quarterly check-ins, and exit interviews.

PerformYard Dashboard

Goal Management

PerformYard can track a variety of business goals, including quantitative, qualitative, individual, team, and OKRs. With the right setup, a business can ensure that everyone knows each others' roles, that expectations are defined, and that future actions are properly mapped out.

Every employee can create their own goals, and log in to view their progress visually via a progress bar or dynamic chart. Each individual goal has a section for updates and peer feedback, and team goals can be shared in collaboration with other team members.

Managers, meanwhile, will be able to access all this data in a concise format that allows them to glean insights on the top performers. They also be able to gauge dips in success, which can in turn lead managers to make informed decisions about the direction to take each individual or team in order to maximize their margins.

Continuous Feedback

The software interface differentiates between types of feedback, so that each one gets the attention it deserves. Private advice is kept private, actionable feedback is shared with individuals, and praise that recognizes high performers can be broadcast to the entire organization.

Set Up and Customer Support

Live training sessions and a dedicated success manager are offered to all clients. PerformYard also offers an online support hub, through which users can submit tickets that will be answered within normal business hours during work days. In addition, phone support is available during the same time period.

For users with more common questions, a self-serve knowledge hub is also available online. Case studies, customer success stories, and a blog are also available online as additional resources.

PerformYard Plans and Pricing

PerformYard offers two different pricing plans: Professional and Enterprise.

PerformYard keeps things simple with just one central plan tier, called Professional, which includes dedicated support and all the features offered by PerformYard's software. The plan costs between $5 and $10 per user per month, with the exact pricing dependent on the total number of employees using the service.

An Enterprise plan is also available, featuring custom implementation along with custom security protocols. However, in order to buy this plan, any interested companies will need to contact PerformYard for a personalized quote.

PeformYard does not offer a free trial to users.

PerformYard Alternatives

The performance management and HR software industry is a crowded one, and while PerformYard represents a solid option, there are dozens of providers out there that might be a better fit for your particular needs.

For example, if you're looking for a compensation and performance management system in one, we could recommend Performance Pro. Alternatively, if you're looking to explore the performance management and HR software options a bit more thoroughly, we've put together this handy table that can help you navigate the pros, cons, features, and pricing options of a few to get you headed in the right direction.

The Verdict: Should You Pay for PerformYard?

PerformYard offers a basic, intuitive, well-priced service that should appeal to companies hoping to streamline their operation. Support hours are not 24/7, and the features don't include a lot of bells and whistles, but both plans should be serviceable for an undemanding company. The pricing in particular stands out as an indicator of PerformYard's transparency: It's simple and inexpensive, even compared to the industry average.
