17 International Companies That Have Broken Into the US Market

It’s easy to forget that there are tech startup ecosystems all around the globe and that they don’t only exist in the US. In fact, some of America’s greatest tech companies were, at one point, founded internationally and then moved stateside. However, it’s a definite challenge to start a company outside of the US and then break into the US market. Often times, there’s a language barrier to overcome, cultural differences to weigh, and an entirely different set of customers to entice to your offering – that’s not to say it can’t be done, though.

Recently, we reached out to 17 different companies that established their foundations internationally. What’s more, all 17 of them have – in one way or another –  broken into various US markets. That is: they’ve all either opened offices in the US, moved their headquarters to the US, or built a sizable user base in the US – not an easy task.
