How many of you keep a blog? Whether your content is full of well-researched thought pieces on a particular subject, or stream of consciousness ramblings with a couple of photos of your cat thrown in for good measure, I’m sure, at one time or another, you’ve thought about doing more with it.
There are several options when it comes to monetizing a blog. You can sell advertising space, but that usually requires that you already have a decent amount of traffic to your site. You can also sell products or services on your blog, and create a revenue stream that way. Another option is to provide a membership-type program where subscribers can pay a fee for additional, higher quality content. These are just a few examples, but the downside to all of these options is that they require either an extra effort on the part of the blogger, or an existing high level of traffic to make it worthwhile.
So what’s the casual blogger to do? Enter Chicago-based serial entrepreneur Zack Price. His latest venture, Blog into Book publishes blogs into e-books and distributes them to Amazon’s Kindle, Apple’s iBookstore, B&N’s Nook, Google Play, and Kobo, among others. The service is free, and the bloggers retain all the rights to their content. As the e-book sells and turns a profit, the blogger receives a royalty for each copy sold.
Zack has started several publishing companies over the years, and has published hundreds of books since 1999. His goal with Blog into Book is to make it easier for bloggers to attain more readership, enhance their brands, and reinvigorate life into old content, while at the same time, creating passive revenue for all their hard work.
Blog into Book also creates a better experience for the reader by providing a copy that can be downloaded to any e-reading device, so the reader can bookmark, highlight, and make notes as they please.
Blog into Book will be showcasing at Tech Cocktail’s Startup Mixer in Chicago on July 25th at 1871. You can also vote for them for Who is Chicago’s Hottest Showcasing Startup? The winning startup will go on to the next round and get the chance to qualify for Tech Cocktail Celebrate, our new national startup competition held in Downtown Vegas on October 23 – 25.
