We’ve seen a massive shift in the way we communicate online with each other. People are replacing words with emoticons, photos and GIFs, and we’ve seen companies like Imgur ride this wave to great success.

After all, visuals are an excellent way to communicate information quickly and move people emotionally and psychologically: the challenge is finding the relevant image or animation easily. There are other companies who have recognized and are taking advantage of this trend as well, companies like Pixit.

Already a popular GIF-chat app that analyzes what you’re typing to provide relevant GIFs, Pixit recently unveiled two new platforms in a GIF search engine and a web client. These will complement Pixit’s already well-known features like the stand alone GIF keyboard that’s on both iOS and Android.

The new tools will enable a cross-platform experience for users, and the addition of the web client and search engine will make Pixit the only app to bring the GIF experience to all platforms.

“People today look to various emoticons to express what they want to say,” says Alex Martsenyuk, GEO of Pixit. “With Pixit rapidly expanding to offer more GIF options, we want people to let loose and have fun while communicating.”

With the new search engine, all you have to do is type a word or phrase and instantly discover a number of options that are a perfect match for your chat. The results are displayed as active GIFs so you can instantly see what they look like.

On the web side of things, users enter their phone number and a confirmation code is immediately sent to them via SMS. Once the code is received, users can continue their conversations via the computer, as if they were using Pixit on their phone.

It’s a fantastic example of how being platform agnostic can open the doors for new innovation for a company. Here’s a taste of some Jared Leto GIFs that we found on the platform because…Jared Leto:
