Over the last ten years, the amount of electronic devices on the market has risen at such an astonishing rate that it’s impossible to predict what’s coming next. The reasoning behind this phenom lies in how accustomed society has gotten to what kinds of smart solutions can solve our daily problems.

The term “smart home” is popularly defined as home automation, involving control and automation of lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, security, home appliances and communications. They all depend on two fundamental elements: electricity and WiFi. There’s no surprise then when we consider adding data lines to areas of the home such as kitchen, laundry room, or even bathrooms, as new building codes and trends for luxury home demand it among the electrical blueprints. Data lines belong to the extra-low voltage range.

Why do we call these “smart” homes?

Having a smart home all comes back to automation. By allowing technology to handle certain tasks, like turning on air conditioning before you come home or regulating the intensity of lighting fixtures, these devices start learning from your routines.

This not only translates to faster home duties, but also in saving costs like lighting conditions for each room will be regulated by the schedule planned by the user or the task involved at the current moment.

But what if we can also improve the overall life quality of the user by reducing work-induced stress when defining that after a certain hour, all incoming calls are muted; or even better, avoiding the hassle of telemarketing with the help of communication hubs tailored to your needs.

How do they change architecture?

By learning the important, core elements of the home automation process, professionals can provide a quality service for either creating new residences or performing a high-end building restoration.

Electrical wiring now adapts to the needs of a house that has to perform tasks as keeping control of the power consumption of the household, turning on/off appliances for completing laundry, watering lawns or even keeping track of what security cameras are recording at the current moment. The best part is that all these tasks can be supervised as easy as using a Smartphone app from wherever we are staying.

Despite the initial investment, which has been significantly reduced as technology keeps improving, smart homes are the living proof of how do we secretly covet comfort at every stage of our life. Industry innovation meets no end, so we can only dream of what might be coming next to make our life easier.
