Startup Week Makes Its Way to Phoenix

The sun in Phoenix, AZ can get pretty hot. Another thing that’s hot in Phoenix right now is tech – and it’s one of the reasons why Startup Week heads to Arizona for Phoenix Startup Week.

The startup ecosystem in Phoenix and the surrounding area has been growing in recent years, partially thanks to Arizona State University. The city is now home to several successful startups including AppVirality, RubyRide, ReplyBuy (based in nearby Scottsdale) and AwareLabs.

Phoenix Startup Week will be held February 22-26 and will celebrate the oasis ecosystem that is thriving in this desert city. The event follows Tampa Bay Startup Week, which was held just last week. Phoenix is one of the eight cities that Chase is sponsoring during the Startup Week Tour. Chase chose to sponsor the cities they believed had the most unique startup cultures with the goal of bringing together the great minds that make these ecosystems stand out.

“Chase is thrilled with the momentum that Phoenix Startup Week has created among the entrepreneurial community and we’re pleased to return for year two,” said Noreen Bishop, Chase Business Banking Region Manager. “Chase has been a champion of supporting Startup Weeks in Phoenix and throughout the country because startups are powerful and vibrant contributors to local economies. We want to continue to connect and support this growing and thriving network in the Valley and build on last year’s success.”

PHX Startup Week just announced this year’s list of speakers, events, and sponsors. The keynote speakers are Brian Mueller, Bill Dolphin, Jeremy Young, Matthew Manos, and Greg Head. This year they’ve also added several fireside chats featuring Phoenix Vice Mayor Daniel Valenzuela, Jeff Katz, Mario Martinez, Dan Ventri, and Heidi Jannenga.

“The all-star speaker lineup at this year’s PHX Startup Week will bring a diverse set of skills, thought-provoking ideas, and invaluable knowledge to the sessions,” said Jonathan Cottrell, PHX Startup Week’s community lead. “We’re excited about this year’s schedule. With more than 120 events throughout the week, there’s truly something for everyone.”

The week’s events are separated into tracks so that attendees can focus their attention in the areas that most interest them. This year, PHX Startup week has added several specialty tracks including Veteran, Hispanic, EdTech, MedTech, and Women. The week will also include their normal tracks:

  • Business Basics
  • Design UI/UX & Development
  • Startup War Stories
  • Community Development
  • Scaling & Growth
  • Marketing & Branding
  • Sales Techniques

In addition to Chase, PHX Startup Week will also welcome growth round sponsor SRP, creator of the Business Resource Center. Make sure to follow the hashtags on social media to keep up on all the great things that will go down at Phoenix Startup Week: #PHXStartupWeek and #ChaseBasecamp.

“SRP is committed to helping small business owners create jobs and contribute to the economic vitality of our communities,” said Cindy Marzofka, SRP director of marketing and brand management. “We are proud to sponsor PHX Startup Week as a catalyst for fostering the entrepreneurial spirit in our region and stimulating business growth.”
