Foodily, the self-described “most advanced recipe search engine in the world,” just announced their Facebook page to make it easier to find and share recipes with friends. For the food obsessed (and I count myself among them), this will make it super easy to find recipes on your friends’ feeds, which would otherwise basically disappear as your friends post to their wall.
We have covered a lot of food sites over the past 6 months, both restaurant and recipe-related, and all with their own unique twist. While Foodily’s emphasis is on sharing with friends, here is how the other recipe sites are trying to differentiate themselves:
KeepRecipes lets you store the best recipes from friends, family, celebrities, and chefs in one spot.
Gojee is like a Google for food blogger recipes; the Gojee team handpicks recipes from food blogs and aggregates them in one spot.
Punchfork curates beverage and food recipes via social media, and each recipe earns a score based on how talked-about and shared it is.
Yummly is a semantic search engine for recipes that includes a profile of each recipe’s ingredients broken down by relevant diets, allergens, nutrition, as well as tastes – sweet, sour, bitter, salty, savory, and spicy.
This definitely looks like the year of the recipe site to me. Instead of just typing in ingredients on Google and randomly try a recipe, personalization has taken over, which is great. There is nothing more disappointing than a bad meal, no matter how gorgeous the photo of the dish is online. Plus, if your friend just gushed to you about the fabulous meal she prepared last night, don’t you want to try it as soon as possible?
If you’re a big foodie, do you use any of the above sites to discover new recipes? Are there others you prefer? Leave a comment below!
