Like many VoIP providers, some of 8×8’s best features are only available as paid add-ons. For example, across all plans it costs extra to archive and retrieve services for long-term storage (up to 10 years).

The model may lack advanced features like built-in Bluetooth and touch screen, but at $86.28 up-front or $5.34 per month, it’ll be well within the budget of most small businesses.

RingCentral
RingCentral is one of the biggest VoIP brands out there, so it’s a natural one to compare side by side with 8×8. While offerings from both are certainly similar, there are some differences to be aware of. First off, price. RingCentral starts at $20 per user, per month, while the 8×8 X2 plan was priced at $24 per user, per month. Overall, RingCentral is far better value for money.
8×8 is better than RingCentral in some regards, though. While video calls with RingCentral are restricted to 200 participants, with 8×8, you can have up to 500. Ooma
Ooma is another popular VoIP provider that competes with 8×8. While researching these providers, we found that 8×8 has a much longer list of integrations than Ooma, which could well sway you if your company relies heavily on certain platforms. 8×8 includes key platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Netsuite and Outlook. However, pricing for the service isn’t listed publicly, and even if we go from its most recent pricing, lots of its packages will exceed the budgets of small businesses.
For instance, the X2 tier offered by 8×8 is about five dollars more expensive than most similar brands, retailing at an estimated $24 per user, per month. But admittedly, it does offer free international calling to 14 countries, which could well be a financial benefit in the long run for some companies.
