8×8 Work Pricing Explained

Unfortunately, 8×8 does not provide publicly available pricing for any of its products, which means that we don’t know how much 8×8 Work costs. The company encourages those interested in the unified communications system to reach out to the sales team to get a custom quote for your specific business, rather than providing the information on the website.

8×8 does offer other services on its site beyond 8×8 Work, but none of those have publicly available pricing either.

8×8 Pricing in the Past

While 8×8 no longer offers publicly available pricing for its products, we do have information on what the VoIP provider used to offer in the past. Below we’ve included a short list of the former pricing plans, showing what they used to cost prior to the end of 2023.

8×8 Work International Call Rates

One of the main considerations when picking a VoIP platform is the cost of calls. You’ll find that most offer domestic calls for free in even their cheapest packages, but if your company makes calls outside of the US and Canada, then these costs could soon mount up.

8×8 offers some international calls for free, depending on the package you opt for. With the more expensive tiers, you’ll be able to call up to 48 different countries, with no chargeable rates. You can find out exactly which countries these are by visiting the 8×8 website.

Hidden Fees and Added Costs

Like many VoIP providers, some of 8×8’s best features are only available as paid add-ons. For example, across all plans it costs extra to archive and retrieve services for long-term storage (up to 10 years).

Similarly, customers can pay to unlock Secure Pay, a tool that enables businesses to securely authorize payments. It’s a nice way to give your customers peace of mind by empowering them to enter their payment information directly, rather than having to read out card details over the phone, when required.

8×8 also offers Intelligent Interactive Voice Response (IVR), a paid feature that leverages AI and advanced analytics to improve the self-service experience for your customers.

8×8 Products and Hardware

One of the beauties of VoIP is that it removes the reliance on hardware. You no longer need a traditional phone – you can make calls through pretty much any device so long as you have the internet, such as a PC, tablet or phone, using the 8×8 dedicated app.

However, for those who want to keep using dedicated hardware, there is a range of VoIP phones available and 8×8 Work is compatible with four different desk phone brands, including Poly, Yealink, Audiocodes, and Grandstream.

8×8 also has seven different device on its website that you can buy or rent directly from the company. As you might’ve guessed, though, pricing is not available for these devices, so you’ll have to reach out to 8×8 to get a quote. Here are some of the payment plan options for these devices:

• Device as a Service (DaaS) – Allows customers to effectively loan the hardware for monthly payments.
• Financing – Paying for the device in monthly installments, after which you’ll own the hardware outright, with 2-5 year options
• One-time payment – Buying the equipment directly from 8×8 in one single payment.

As for how much those might cost, it really depends on what kind of hardware you’re looking for. Desk phones and cordless phones like the Poly Edge E300 typically costs around $150, while conference phone systems like the Poly Trio 360 can cost as much as $700. Both are available on the 8×8 website, but the pricing may vary depending on where you buy it from.

8×8 Work Alternatives

While 8×8 Work performed admirably in our research, we did find a few better solutions that offer a bit more functionality while also providing transparent pricing, something 8×8 tragically lacks.

The RingCentral Advanced plan, for example, offers more advanced features like voicemail and call screening at a competitive price point of only $25 per user, per month. In fact, it was our top pick for medium-sized businesses, largely because of the massive library of third party integrations that can really expand the functionality to other software.

The Zoom Phone Regional Unlimited plan is an even better deal at only $15 per user, per month, although it does have far fewer third party integrations than other options. If the previous price of 8×8 Work is any indication, Zoom Phone would present a nearly 50% discount from the VoIP solution, positioning it as a clear choice for smaller businesses on a budget.
