If you’re looking for an email marketing solution, then you already know that there are lots of options out there, and you’ve probably already come across ActiveCampaign and want to know more about its costs.
We’ve done all the research for you, and you’ll find everything you need to make the right decision on this page, so the good news is that your search could well be over within minutes. More good news – we’ve found that ActiveCampaign offers some of the cheapest email marketing solutions, especially for businesses just starting out, or those that are looking to reach out to smaller audiences.

How Much Does ActiveCampaign Cost?
ActiveCampaign pricing starts at $9 per month for its Lite package, increasing to $229 for the enterprise package. You can pay more, depending on the amount of contacts you want to reach with your marketing.
Our research has found that ActiveCampaign is one of the cheaper email marking solutions, especially for smaller businesses who are looking to reach a smaller audience, and don’t need a wide range of features.
That’s not to say that advanced features are lacking, however. With four tiers (Lite, Plus, Professional and Enterprise), there’s plenty of choice for every budget.
One key thing to remember with ActiveCampaign’s packages is that the number of users varies. Lite starts at $9 and is available to three users, Plus starts at $49 and is available to 10 users, while Professional starts at $129 and is available to 50 users. Lastly, at $229, there is no limit to the number of users for Enterprise.
ActiveCampaign Lite is the provider’s entry level tier, but don’t assume that it will lack the key features you’re after. Sure, it’s not as complete as the higher Plus, Professional and Enterprise packages, but you still get quite a bit for your money.
The Lite plan starts at $9 per month (if paid yearly), and goes up depending on the number of contacts you want to include. The base price starts you at 500, but raise it to, say, 5,000, and you’re looking at $79 per month.
So, for the money, what do you actually get? When it comes to marketing features, the Lite tier will provide you with marketing automation, unlimited email sending, the ability to send newsletters, site and event tracking, segmentation, and campaign and automation reporting.
That’s the marketing features dealt with. As for sales features, the Lite package offers sales emails, lead capture forms, segmented outreach, sales reporting, and email auto-responders.
The Lite package is a little… well, light when it comes to service features, but fledgling businesses can expect customer newsletter templates and analytics – enough to get started.
Proof that this tier is really aimed at small businesses? It only supports three users. So, those bigger workforces should move on to Plus (25), Professional (50) or Enterprise (Unlimited). ActiveCampaign Lite customers can expect chat and email support, although phone support is reserved for higher tiers. Users can also import contacts, and have access to over 500 automation templates.
In terms of integrations, users are well covered – over 300 are available, including WordPress, Squarespace, Google Analytics, and more.
One last thing to note on the Lite tier – it features watermarks on its forms.
If the Lite tier isn’t quite doing it for you, then it’s worth considering the Plus package. There’s a considerable jump up in price here – costs start at $49 per month per user for 500 contacts. For bigger businesses, with 5,000 contacts, it amounts to $135 per month. However, as you might expect, there are fewer restrictions, and more features to choose from – including a wider range of integrations of services which could well be key to your core business.
When it comes to features, know that you’re getting everything included in the Lite tier above, with the addition of extra features. Under the marketing banner, you also get landing pages, Facebook custom audiences, contact scoring, SMS marketing, more advanced performance reporting, as well as custom branded forms and landing pages, which will add to the professionalism and holistic nature of your business.
As for sales features, Plus customers can also expect CRM with sales automation, lead scoring, a mobile CRM app, SMS prospect nurturing, task reporting, and perhaps most importantly for some, Salesforce integration.

It’s clear to see the level of extra functionality that Plus gives companies over the Lite package. Additional service features include sales CRM sync, deal assignment, customer success pipelines, account management, and customer health scoring.
The Plus package supports larger businesses of up to 25 users, as well as offering advanced mobile reporting, custom user permissions, and a free strategy session.
Integrations include the aforementioned 300 plus in the Lite package, as well as Salesforce, Shopify, and BigCommerce.
The next step up in ActiveCampaign’s offering is the Professional tier. According to ActiveCampaign’s marketing blurb, it’s the most popular choice for its customers, but let’s take a proper look ourselves.
First up, pricing. Paying yearly, you can expect a cost of $129 per month for the base 500 contacts. Increase this to 5,000, and the monthly charge is $199. For your money, you get a few more features than previous tiers, so it may well be that the additional cost is worth it to you – especially if you’re a larger business, or looking to expand in the near future.
Those additional marketing features in the Professional package are website personalization, predictive sending, predictive content, marketing attribution, split automation, conversion reporting, and site messages.
Sales features include all those in previously mentioned tiers of course, plus “win probability” and deal path reporting.
Extra features for service features are in-app messaging, conversion reporting, and personalized product experiences.
With the Professional package, you can expect capacity for 50 users – that's twice as many as Plus offers. If you want more than that, you’ll need to look to the Enterprise solution, which has capacity for unlimited users.
You can also expect 1:1 onboarding support, CXA strategy consultation, and three 1:1 training sessions per month.
Integrations are just the same as with previous tiers.
If you’ve looked at all the previous tiers and are still not sated, then Enterprise is probably the package for you. Sure, it’s pricey, but when it comes to features and options, this one is ActiveCampaign's belly-busting, all you can eat buffet offering.
Firstly, you probably want to know about that price tag before you read any further. For the base 500 users, you can expect to pay $229 per month. Raise that to 5,000, and it’s $359 per month. It’s the priciest package offered by ActiveCampaign, sure, but when compared to others in the industry, the pricing is actually quite reasonable – especially if you’re expecting to do large volumes and need the extra support and features.
In terms of what you get for your money, of course you get everything in previous tiers, as well as custom reporting, custom mailserver domain, free design services, unlimited email design testing, and social data enrichment.
The real bonus of Enterprise for bigger businesses is that there is no limit to the number of users.

ActiveCampaign Free Trial
Unlike some of its competitors, there’s no free tier from ActiveCampaign. However, it does have a free trial available, meaning that your business can try it out for 14 days to see if it suits your needs.
If you’re on the fence about the service, it’s a good opportunity to experience the full offering before committing to a monthly or annual subscription.
If not, simply cancel the trial before the period ends. No payment details are required, and it can be set up instantly.
With four packages available, things might seem unclear, but it’s really quite simple. Consider the number of users you want to have access to the system first and foremost.
If it’s three or fewer, you’ll be fine with the Lite package.
If it’s more than that, consider Plus or Professional.
And if you want an unlimited number of users, then it’s going to be Enterprise for you.
If your business has a heavy ecommerce element, then you’ll want to opt for the Plus tier at least. Skip the Lite package – yes, it’s cheap, but you’ll be left wanting when it comes to features such as Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce integration, product landing pages, and an ecommerce dashboard, none of which you’ll find on the entry level tier.
Likewise, if you’re primarily B2B focused, then again we recommend starting with the Plus tier, as this is where sales automation and customer health scoring come into play (Professional and Enterprise also include these features).

ActiveCampaign is a solid email marketing platform, and one of the cheapest available for smaller businesses. ActiveCampaign certainly wins on price, although it can't always compete when it comes to features, especially for those budget packages.
If you need the more advanced features, then the higher tiers should suit you well. Unlike some competitors, there’s no limit on email volume, meaning that you could theoretically send millions of emails – although it’s worth noting that there is a maximum limit of 100,000 contacts.
It only offers 25 email templates, which is a little measly in our view (Getresponse offers over 200). But, again, the price is certainly right, and although there’s a small number of features that don’t stack up against competitors, they are few and far between – and you’re unlikely to complain for the price.
ActiveCampaign does not offer refunds.
Its entry level package is also very fairly priced, starting at $9 per month.
It also has an ongoing campaign to ‘hack’ itself to identify potential vulnerabilities.
