Beehive Startups Built a Startup Studio in Utah

StartStudio is not your typical three month accelerator program. In fact, it’s not an accelerator at all – there is no demo day, applications are always open, and participating startups aren’t broken down into cohorts.

Rather, Beehive Startups wanted to build an organization that focuses on helping entrepreneurs in Salt Lake City design sustainable products and companies. That is, StartStudio focuses on early stage startups and works with founders to help develop new products and launch scalable tech companies.

“StartStudio is an answer to a question we’ve been asking ourselves for years. What if we could help extraordinarily talented entrepreneurs get off to a better start?” says Clint Betts, founder and CEO of Beehive Startups. “We’ve partnered with distinguished and experienced individuals to do everything we possibly can to prevent a costly false start to a promising company.”

Companies that are accepted into StartStudio receive up to $100,000 in the form of a convertible note. Not only that, they’ll also work closely with an in house team and a wide array of mentors to build a business worthy of long term investment and top talent.

Some of their big name partners at launch are Kickstart Seed Fund and Izeni. Both will work closely with the startups and help guide founders through nearly all aspects of building a scalable company.

“We’re excited to be a partner with Clint and his team on StartStudio. Both of our organizations care deeply about the long term growth and success of the startup ecosystem and believe that StartStudio will help entrepreneurs get the validation and product traction necessary to raise seed funding,” says Gavin Christensen, Managing Partner of Kickstart Seed Fund.

In addition to the launch of StartStudio, Beehive Startups announced that they’ve officially accepted their first startup into the program: Simple Citizen. Their mission is to simplify the immigration process that’s beyond complex.

So, sure, it’s not an accelerator. It rings more similar to Garrett Camp’s Expa start studio which we’ve seen have some pretty great traction so far. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on Simple Citizen and future additions to the program as StartStudio keeps expanding.
