I firmly believed that the brain can be trained to learn almost anything. This includes creativity and innovation. Anyone who claims to not have a creative bone in their body is bullshitting themselves and everyone around them. Of course creativity comes more naturally to some people than others, which is why some people gravitate towards graphic design while others gravitate towards accounting (not to say accounting doesn’t have its creative moments), but anyone can train their brains to think about the world in a different way.

If you don’t consider yourself to be a natural born innovator, there are some things you can do to improve in that area. Conversely, there are also some habits that you might be doing that are hampering your ability to think outside that ever-present box.

This infographic put together by and Column Five gives some tips on what to do and what not to do to get yourself on the right track to becoming an innovative genius.

Some of the “Dos”:

  • Meditate
  • Be an information sponge
  • Trust yourself
  • Say yes to things
  • Exercise

A few of the “Don’ts”

  • Stay up all night
  • Be a sheep
  • Pass judgement
  • Be lazy
