It seems like everywhere I look these days is something about artificial intelligence (AI). Only yesterday I wrote about how Google is using their AI script to help search engine marketers shape a new future for their industry.
In the article, I mentioned that it’s important we, as humans, stop focusing only on the dire warnings folks like Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk are saying about AI and focus more on the positive, immediate benefits to be had now. That is, there’s so much good we can do with AI and machine learning to help people in all aspects of life.
Case in point is a video that Facebook Engineering posted today describing the smart, AI systems they’re building to enhance peoples’ lives. Specifically, they’re helping blind people “see” photos for the first time by having their script analyze the image and describe what’s in it and what the user engagement via comments is like.
It’s pretty awesome, and it definitely pulls the heart strings. Check it out:
