Today Freelancer.com, the triple Webby award-winning outsourcing and crowdsourcing marketplace, released a report of the top 50 fastest-growing online jobs. On top are the 3D printing, design, Android, Facebook, Telemarketing, and Email Marketing industries, while Apple, Twitter, SEO, and Link Building jobs plummeted.
Their analysis conducted across 300,000 posted job openings in Q2 2013 reveals that small and medium enterprises (SME) are having a tough time keeping up with the big corporations. Thus, SME began using freelancers as an integral part of their business, relying on them for core tasks and prompting growth.
3D printing is set to become a $3 billion industry by 2016 as households and workplaces adopt the technology.
Disruptive business models like freelancing, crowdsourcing, quality, and ROI for SME have boosted the online design industry an average 15.675 percent.
Thanks to Android’s 70 percent market share of new sales, they are outrunning Apple, who only secured a 21 percent market share for the iPhone; iOS development has, in turn, fallen flat.
Facebook bested Twitter this year, growing mobile advertising revenue 76 percent from the previous quarter.
SEO and Link Building jobs suffered at the hands of Telemarketing and Email Marketing because advertisers are diversifying their budgets into targeted social channels like Facebook.
“2013 will be viewed as a year of unprecedented disruption, with tectonic shifts in the design and manufacturing industries as they struggle to adapt to the unstoppable rise of crowdsourcing and 3D printing,” says Freelancer.com CEO Matt Barrie in the press release. “But with disruption comes opportunity, and over the next couple of months there is a unique window for any entrepreneur with an innovative business model to build a billion-dollar company.”
