Waferapp: File Transfer With the Flick of a Wrist

There’s no doubt about it, sending files between devices can be difficult. Sure, there are solutions like Dropbox and Google Drive to upload and easily share files, but even so you have to upload and then re-download them to different devices.

Pulkit Madan, founder of Waferapp, was fed up with this method of file transfer. But that’s why he built and launched Waferapp: it lets users transfer files from desktop to mobile, or mobile to mobile, insanely fast.  All you really need is a dependable internet connection, which fortunately isn’t too difficult to come by these days.

“Our main goal with Waferapp was to simplify the way we transfer photos and files between our devices,” says Pulkit Madan, founder. “Before Waferapp, there was no easy way to send photos or files from your phone to the computer and vice versa. We had to rely on a USB which in most cases is a problem due to different type of devices and operating systems.”

When you’re transferring mobile to mobile, you simply put the two devices together and shake them to initiate the transfer. It feels a lot like the NFC capabilities, and  Madan built his solution for both iOS and Android.

Desktop is just as simple, enabling file transfers by touching your smartphone to the space bar. If it sounds too good to be true, I highly recommend you give it a try: it really is impressive.

“What we did was to take on this problem and start building a prototype which helped us transfer small files and photos across devices,” says Madan. “After doing that successfully, we are now working on making it better everyday. The application right now does all the things you’re used to where file transfers are concerned, it just does them faster than before.”
