Hostinger vs Wix: Quick Fact File
To be clear, Wix and Hostinger are two very different types of website builders. Wix is a more robust, complete option that can scale with your business and tackle a wide range of website builder needs. Hostinger, on the other hand, is aimed at beginners with a simple interface and low prices.
Here are a few basics about how these two website builders match up:
- Wix offers more site functionality than Hostinger.
- Hostinger is more affordable than Wix.
- Wix has more design options and features than Hostinger.
- Wix is better for ecommerce businesses than Hostinger.
- Hostinger has better uptime and server response than Wix.

To get a better understanding of what these two website builders bring to the table, check out the brief overviews below and don’t forget to check out our Wix review and our Hostinger review for more information.
Hostinger Overview

Pros
- AI generated site in three steps (60 seconds)
- Built-in heatmap for advanced site analytics
- Language translations capabilities
Cons
- No app market for third party integrations
- No email marketing in any paid plans
- No free trial or free plan for users
Right out of the gate, the best thing Hostinger has going for it is affordability. With one of the lowest starting prices in our research — as long as you take advantage of their frequent discounts — it provides virtually no barrier to usage for lower-budget businesses.
Still, this affordability comes at a cost. While Hostinger is cheap, it doesn’t offer a lot of the features you need to effectively run a business website, particularly when compared to Wix. Hostinger certainly covers all the bases with its basic website-building features and throws in a little extra with fun additions like the heatmap, logo maker, and AI writer.

Hostinger makes up for this lack of advanced features with some serious ease of use. The drag-and-drop editor makes designing your site extra simple, and it even has a few good-looking templates to get you started. On top of that, it offers an AI site builder that can have your site created and live in just three steps. It took us less than 30 seconds.
Plus, because Hostinger is a web hosting provider first and a website builder second, it offers excellent hosting features, as well as better uptime and server response than Wix.
Overall, Hostinger is a great option for beginners who don’t need or want a lot of advanced features and want the price cut to go with it.

Wix Overview

Pros
- Unrivaled selection of website features across design, sales, and support
- AI features can create site in 60 seconds
- Quality free forever plan available
Cons
- No template switching once published
- Number of features can be overwhelming for some beginners
- Steep price increase for scaling businesses
If we’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: you can’t beat Wix. As our top-rated website builder, Wix provides it all: robust customizability, excellent help and support options, scalable ecommerce capabilities, and advanced functionality like CRM. Plus, with all of that coming at you starting at $17 per month, it’s easy to see why Wix is at the top of our list.
Its SEO features are where Wix really shines, though. The platform’s revised settings allow businesses to control their SEO data from a single dashboard, making the tool more capable of improving search results. This, in addition to Wix’s integration with Semrush, helps the provider edge out other builders in this field.

While Wix may not have the best templates on the market, an honor that goes to Squarespace, it offers hundreds of excellent options that can help you build out your website. Plus, they are always adding more, so you’ll definitely find something that fits your business needs.
Like Hostinger, Wix offers an AI site generator that can get you started with a site fast. The chatbot-style service will ask a few simple questions about what you want and you’ll be on your way. During our tests, it only took about 60 seconds to get our site up and running.

- Automations Custom Trigger API: You can now trigger automations from your site code by using a new API. These also include custom automations.

Compare Prices | Compare Prices |
Hostinger pricing starts at only $2.99 per month, while Wix pricing starts at $17 per month, which is admittedly a wide range for website builders. It gets even wider when you consider Wix has plans as expensive as $159 per month, while Hostinger’s most expensive plan is only $3.99 per month.
It’s worth noting, however, that these starting prices don’t last forever. You can lock in these special prices for two years, but after that, the plan will renew at $11.99 per month and $13.99 per month, respectively. Still, the price is notably lower than Wix, even after those first few years. Plus, you get three months of the service for free, adding even more savings to your budget.
When it comes to value, though, the margins are pretty thin. Wix is obviously more expensive but offers a lot more in terms of functionality and scalability. Hostinger, on the other hand, is quite cheap, but is missing those advanced tools that can manage larger businesses with complex needs. Suffice to say, you get what you pay for with both of these website builders.
Hostinger Pricing
Hostinger offers two pricing plans, which cost only $2.99 per month and $3.99 per month with a special deal. The cheaper plan is for basic website functionality, like portfolios and blogs, while the more expensive option unlocks ecommerce functionality, so you can set up an online store.
On top of all that, Hostinger offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you don’t want your few bucks back, you won’t have trouble saving yourself the money.

Wix Pricing
Because Wix provides more advanced features, the pricing situation is a bit more complex as well. Wix offers four core paid plans: Light, Core, Business, and Business Elite.
The Light plan, starting at $17 per month, is aimed at businesses trying to create a website that showcases what they do. While it isn’t equipped with ecommerce tools, it can help you create a great website with stunning templates and plenty of features to track your traffic.
The Core, Business, and Business Elite plans, starting at $29 per month, $36 per month, and $159 per month, are likely what you’re looking for. These plans are aimed at selling (unlimited) products, offering tools like customer accounts, abandoned cart recovery, and even drop shipping the more expensive plans.
You’ll also be able to sell on social channels as well, which can seriously add some revenue power to your business.
Check out the specific pricing of each plan below:

Hostinger vs Wix: Which has the best free plan?
Of the two, Wix is the only website builder that offers a free plan, and it’s a pretty solid way to get started without any cost.
However, there are some downsides, including no custom URLs, limited functionality, and Wix ads all over your site. Still, as an extended free trial to test before you buy, it’s a solid choice.
Hostinger does not offer a free trial, but there is a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you don’t like the platform after a month, you can still get your money back if you reach out.
Hostinger vs Wix: Head-to-Head
Below, we’ll compare the website builders on everything from features and user experience to ecommerce and help and support, so you can make the right decision for your business.
Here are the categories that we used to compare Wix and Hostinger:
Best for Features: Wix
The number of features available for a website builder can make a big difference. And honestly, the massive feature list is what sets Wix apart from every website builder, which means that it definitely tops Hostinger in this category.
Our research found that Wix scored the highest of all website builders when it comes to features and overall functionality, offering advanced options like SEO support, ad integration, and advanced AI tools. Plus, there’s no app market with Hostinger, so you couldn’t branch out for more features even if you wanted to.
From the standard website builder features that make getting onboarded as easy as possible, to the advanced business features like email and social marketing options, you can do a lot with Wix.

AI features
Both Wix and Hostinger offer AI features that can build a website for you in about a minute. With Hostinger, it takes just three steps to get started, with a simple form that can get your site live fast.
However, Hostinger’s AI builder isn’t foolproof. When our researchers tested it, there were some mixed opinions on the AI-generated images, with some of them being not as effective as actual stock photos. Similarly, our testers emphasized the need for better AI text capabilities.
On the contrary, Wix’s AI builder it’s a bit more thorough. You’ll have a ChatGPT-style chatbot that is powered by AI, asking you questions in a conversational way to get information about your site. Then, you’ll be able to pick from a variety of templates that will design your site further, and you’re all set!
Check out the screenshots from our research below to see how quickly you can get your site live and ready with Wix.

Notes from Testing
I was able to get a website up and running with Wix very quickly, and using their AI Website Builder is something I would recommend to any business looking to get started with very little early frustrations.
The builder works a lot like an AI chatbot works. It asked me questions about the name of my site, its purpose, and target audience. As you answer the questions, a preview builds on the right-hand side with a ‘Site Profile’, which is essentially what the AI bot has gathered from your information.
This initial conversation with the website builder helped set me up for the rest of Wix. My dashboard was personalized with features that I would need, and was not convoluted with those I wouldn’t.
For example, because I said in my brief that I wanted to sell products, I was given plenty of ecommerce features. Overall, the AI website builder is an advanced feature that ensured my website and I were set up for success.

Ecommerce Features
This one is a no-brainer. While Hostinger does offer some ecommerce features, the reality is that Wix just brings the power when it comes to ecommerce. Between the ability to sell unlimited products and advanced features like CRM functionality, Wix just takes the cake on ecommerce from top to bottom.
Hostinger is no slouch when it comes to ecommerce, though, particularly for the price. You’ll be able to sell up to 500 products and get features like inventory management and the ability to accept 20 different forms of payment.
Still, we have to give Wix the edge here, simply based on the sheer volume of ecommerce features available.

Best for User Experience: Hostinger
Our researchers scored Hostinger higher on user experience than Wix; however, it was a pretty close call. While Wix is an excellent choice for beginners, introducing advanced features in a simple way, there were still some barriers that our researchers encountered.
For example, certain functions proved difficult to find, with one of our testers struggling to set up blog posts. When they did find it, they said it was “messy” and “overwhelming”.
When creating a blog post on Hostinger, on the other hand, our users felt the feature was easy to find and complete. Likewise, our researchers highlighted user-friendly website editing, AI templates, and improved navigation. This website builder is one of the easiest to use, and we would recommend it for novice users who are looking for simplicity.

Both website builders offer delightful, intuitive interfaces that shouldn’t be too difficult to handle. They both offer simple, drag-and-drop functionality for web design, so you can easily handle the templates, and you won’t be too bogged down by the advanced features, no matter how experienced you are.
Therefore, you shouldn’t be too put off by Wix in this case, even if Hostinger did take this round.
Best for Design Functionalities: Wix
In this category, it was Wix that came out on top. Admittedly, it’s hard to compete with Wix’s 2000+ arsenal of website templates, although Hostinger doesn’t lag too far behind.
Not only does Wix have a vast array of templates, but they are equally stylish and modern, with a lot of variation to choose from. Better yet, if you’re using the AI website builder, Wix will automatically style your site’s pages to match a consistent theme, color, and font.
Likewise, Wix’s image editor was one of the best we tested, offering background and object removal where other builders didn’t.

I hadn’t given designing my product page a good go yet, but I was happy with what Wix’s AI Builder came up with. I thought the design was sleek, modern, and reflected the brand I had set up before. Source: Tech.co testing
The one area where Hostinger trumps Wix in terms of design is in the option to switch templates, which Wix doesn’t currently offer. Ultimately, though, Wix offers plenty of design options that will definitely suit your business.
Best for Help & Support: Wix
Again, as our top-rated website builder, Wix gets the victory when it comes to help and support. The popular website builder provides 24/7 support to all customers in paid plans.
Additionally, this support is top-tier stuff, providing expert advice quickly and effectively, all on top of a knowledge center that is very impressive. Even better, you can get priority support for higher paid plans, skipping the lines and getting help immediately when you need it.

Wix offers a wide range of guides that help us with building our site, like SEO. Source: Tech.co testing
Hostinger also provides 24/7 support, but it’s just not as robust as the options provided by Wix. You’ll only get access to email and live chat with Hostinger, which isn’t great if your business needs phone support. Likewise, the knowledge center is expansive but not nearly as helpful as Wix.
In fact, our research found that Hostinger had a better user experience than Wix, most notably offering a strong self-service help system. Our testers noted that virtually every problem they could fathom was searchable thanks to the AI chatbot, so you can fix a lot of problems on your own.
It’s important to note, though, that Hostinger doesn’t provide expert support, so if you have a specific marketing or branding query, you may have to hope for the best with the AI chatbot. Wix, on the other hand, gives you plenty of experts to consult should you need them.

Other Website Builder Alternatives
While Wix is our top-rated website builder, and Hostinger is a popular option for beginners, they’re not the only website builders out there. Squarespace has the best-looking templates in the market, making it a shoo-in for creative businesses like bespoke retailers, photographers, or graphic designers.
Shopify, on the other hand, offers some of the best sales features. The platform has stronger delivery options and social media selling integrations; however, its online transaction rate of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction could be particularly steep for businesses with high turnovers.
We’ve done tons of in-depth research to bring you all the information you need about the best website builders. Take a look at the table below for a snapshot of your options and read on for more specifics about our top picks.

Verdict: Which website builder is better?
Wix is our top-rated website builder, so it’s definitely better than Hostinger, due to its massive feature catalog, its affordable plans, and its robust help and support options provided to all users.
Simply put, Wix provides the power and functionality you need to run any type of business in the online world.
Hostinger is still a great option for beginners and budget-conscious businesses, though, particularly with the super affordable prices, as it offers an easy-to-use interface that is stripped back for first-timers.
