Is Wix a Good Website Builder?
Wix provides an extensive suite of features, including 2,000+ free templates, AI-powered live chat, scalable ecommerce, and an app market.
All of these features are contained within an intuitive platform that can be easily customized based on your needs – when I tried the platform, I was provided with a personalized checklist from Wix after I’d set up my website, containing all of the features I would need for its specific use, such as membership plans for my blog.
Alternatively, I could use Wix Harmony (Wix’s vibe coding tool) to generate a site, make edits, and launch a business using conversational language.

Who do I recommend Wix for?
Wix is a great option for businesses that want to get up and running with a website as quickly as possible, thanks to its impressive AI website builder, which can build you a fully functioning site in less than sixty seconds.
Like Hostinger, Wix also has plenty of AI tools available for users. There is an AI image generator and text generator, which in particular, I found really beneficial in that I was able to interact directly with the AI as it created my idea. These tools are great again for businesses wanting to speed up the website building process as much as possible.
Is Hostinger a Good Website Builder?
Hostinger’s biggest strength is its affordable long-term pricing, starting at just $2.99/month (for a 48-month contract). This introductory deal is great for beginners and budget-conscious small businesses, since you lock in the low price for four years.
While it may not have as much built-in functionality as Wix, Hostinger offers the essentials within a simple, intuitive interface and AI website builder. With a natural language prompt, I had a custom website built for me in under 30 seconds.
For this reason, it’s one of our favorite website builders for beginners, since you won’t have to get to grips with a vast range of features.

How Much Do Hostinger and Wix Cost?
Wix offers superior long-term value for money, despite Hostinger’s lower entry price of $2.99 per month (for a 48-month contract). Wix offers a lot more built-in functionality with its subscription, plus an app store, while Hostinger’s cheaper plans offer fewer features.
You can take a closer look at Wix’s pricing below:
| Plan | Special deal | Price (1-year contract) The price per month you'll pay if you choose to be billed annually | Price (1-month contract) The price per month you'll pay if you choose to be billed monthly | Ecommerce |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| $0 | $24/month | $36/month | $46/month | $172/month |

In comparison, Hostinger’s low cost plans increase in price when it’s time to renew. For example, the $2.99 per month Premium plan jumps up to $10.99 per month after the first four years. That said, you can lock in a cheap price initially across the two plans:
| Plan | Special deal | Price (4-year contract) The price per month you'll pay if you choose to be billed for 48 months | Price (1-year contract) The price per month you'll pay if you choose to be billed annually | Price (1-month contract) The price per month you'll pay if you choose to be billed monthly | Ecommerce |

Do Hostinger or Wix have a free plan?
Wix has a free plan, but Hostinger doesn’t. Hostinger does have a 30-day money-back guarantee, though, so you can use the platform for a month and still get your money back if you are not satisfied.
The Wix free plan is limited, with no option to add a custom domain and it puts Wix ads all over your site. You do get access to Wix’s AI features with the free plan, though, which can substantially speed up your setup process.
Do Hostinger or Wix have any hidden fees?
- Transaction fees: Hostinger doesn’t charge transaction fees (though you could be charged via third-party processors), whereas Wix charges US stores a standard 2.9% + $0.30 fee per transaction, if using Wix Payments
- Custom domain name: Both Wix and Hostinger include a custom domain for free in your first year, but a .com domain with Wix will renew at $21.35 vs Hostinger’s renewal cost of $19.99 per year
- Apps: Wix offers a range of free and premium third-party integrations (the average cost of these paid apps can range from $3 to $20 per month)
- AI credits: Pay for vibe coding credits with Hostinger Horizons (from $6.29 per month), or upgrade your Wix plan to unlock more AI credits
- Taxes: Hostinger will add taxes at checkout (estimated VAT 20%)
How Do Hostinger and Wix Compare to Other Website Builders?
Here are some other providers we’ve tested that may be better for your needs than Hostinger or Wix:
- Squarespace: Squarespace might not match Wix’s 2,000+ template options, but it does offer the most good-looking templates in the market right now. For creative businesses like custom retailers, this makes Squarespace a valuable choice. Plus, unlike Hostinger, Squarespace has an extensive app library, which allows businesses to boost their platform with additional tools.
- Shopify: Shopify is ideal for ecommerce businesses because of its strong delivery options, customizable checkout, and social media selling integrations. It’s also leading the way when it comes to selling via LLMs, such as ChatGPT and Perplexity.
- GoDaddy: GoDaddy is another great option with excellent AI tools, particularly if your business is looking to set up a website quickly. GoDaddy’s AI website builder is very simple to use, but you’ll sacrifice design quality for speed.
