Remember the last time you wrote a really great article for your website or blog and wanted to share it with the rest of the world? Of course, you do — after all, it was a great work of art!
Now my question is… did you post your content to the internet and social media right away, or did you wait for the ideal time when engagement is at its peak?
With billions of social updates and new content going live at all times, if you are simply posting content and social media updates whenever you feel like it, you could be missing out on huge engagement shifts and a ton of free high-quality traffic to your site.
The good news is, by the end of this article, you will know exactly when you are supposed to post content to the internet and be sharing it on social media. Thanks to the team over at InfographicDesignTeam.com and their recent “Is it the right time for my next social media post?” infographic, we can now break down the best time to post content to our sites and share it on all of our favorite social media platforms.
Let’s take a look at some of the key data points from the infographic below.
The best days of the week to post content to Facebook are on Thursdays and Fridays at 1pm for the most shares or 3pm for the most clicks. Why? Simply because people love to be using Facebook while they are at work, of course!
With the half-life of a tweet only being around 24 minutes long (4 times shorter than Facebook posts), your window of opportunity is quite small. For maximum retweets, post at 5pm, 12pm, and 6pm. Additionally, 12pm and 6pm deliver higher click through rates.
LinkedIin
LinkedIn engagement is all about posting content in the evening. The best times for engagement are between 7pm and 10pm.
Pinterest is all about being consistent and spreading your pinning sessions out. The best days to share content are on Saturdays and Sundays. Each day of the week is better for different types of posting as well, such as Mondays being best for fitness and Thursdays seem to do well with fashion.
Instagram times come down to the target audience and demographic you are going after, however, Hubspot reported that “anytime from Monday to Thursday except from 3pm-4pm” is an ideal time for posting.
Now that you’ve had a glimpse of the best times and days of the week to post content to each platform, be sure to set up a social scheduling system that aligns with these times. Keep in mind, while some times are better for engagement, it’s best to keep new status updates and tweets flowing throughout the day.
