Zoom Support Has Officially Launched for M1 Apple Devices

The update from everyone's favorite video chat software added new features and improved functionality for new Apple devices.

Zoom and Apple are starting the new year off right with an update that will see the popular video chat software better integrated with the Apple’s new ARM-based M1 chips.

Zoom’s meteoric rise continues to be the talk of the pandemic, with millions of users still taking advantage of the platform to conduct meetings, host shows, and safely hang out with friends and family.

Given Zoom’s popularity, it was only a matter of time before early adopters of Apple’s M1 chip lineup would be in dire need during the holiday season of an update to keep the speeds fast and the features fresh. And luckily, they got one just in time.

Zoom’s New Update

Just before the holiday kicked off, Zoom launched an update that significantly improved the video chat platform’s functionality on Apple’s new ARM-based M1 processors, which include devices like the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini. The Zoom update release stated:

“Zoom desktop client will better support computers with ARM CPUs.”

The announcement from Zoom talked about a few other cool features, like “raise hand for host and co-host” and “poll reports during live session,” so you can get the most out of the platform on your new laptop. The video chat company also stated that a “separate installer is available for download in the Zoom Download Center,” so if you haven’t already, keep an eye out for that.

How to get the new Zoom update
