It’s amazing how some of the lessons you learn as a kid really stick with you. Childhood is when you’re the most impressionable and you’re basically a human sponge, sucking up knowledge and “way of the world” information from everyone around you. The way the adults in your young life behave could easily influence the way you grow up to behave. This is why it is so important that kids are being taught the right lessons at that time.

We need kids to be the innovators of tomorrow for a number of reasons, and a way to make sure that happens is by teaching them the skills that are required for entrepreneurship in ways that are fun, engaging, and long lasting. So what exactly are these skills? According to Pumpic a Tel Aviv based startup that creates mobile monitoring apps for parents, there are 8 skills we should be instilling in our kids to set them up for success:

  1. Resilience
  2. Innovation & Creativity
  3. Industriousness
  4. Curiosity
  5. Self Confidence
  6. Empathy
  7. Optimism
  8. Giving Back

In order to raise kids to be independent thinkers and confident doers, and yet remain considerate human beings who want to take care of others as they make their way to the top, we need to teach them a range of skills. These  include working hard, being compassionate, yet bucking the rules when they don’t make sense.

The infographic also recommends apps to help kids learn these lessons in fun ways such as Trip Hawkin’s IF which is an emotional IQ app, and Positive Penguins to help kids understand their negative feelings and turn them into positive ones.
