Fusioo Offers a Cafeteria-Style Project Management Platform

Technology has made it possible for companies of all sizes to bring common sense into their project management through a host of software. Picking the right one from an ever-growing population of products is challenging. Fusioo, a relatively new kid on the block, may be a solid, affordable answer for small businesses.

The developers of Fusioo understand that every business and every project within the same business is unique. They have built their project management software around the idea that teams should be able to build their own, custom workspace. You can accomplish this by either activating Apps from the Fusioo App Marketplace or by building them from scratch, without writing any code. Once the business grows, teams can quickly modify those Apps to suit their new workflow. Apps are made up of Fields and Dashboards. Drag and drop functionality allows teams to create Apps effortlessly. For small business project management, Fusioo may be a great answer.

From Scratch or Use Existing App Bundles

Customization is probably the best and most unique feature of this hosted service. Users can modify each App, defining what they need to manage and to track, as well as who can access what. If budget tracking is not a part of a project, for example, that App will not be “dragged” into the team workspace. No company IT specialist or coding skills are needed. If users are a little uncomfortable building their own database at first, there are App Bundles to select and then tweak as they wish. Bundles include, but are not limited to the following:

    • CRM + Project Management
    • Expense management
    • Standalone Project Management
    • Issue Tracking
    • Applicant Tracking
    • Remote Team Management
    • Small Business Software
Collaboration Among Team Members and Clients

As a project progresses, changes may need to be made. There is plenty of flexibility to do this by adding different Widgets to the Dashboard. Additional team members may need to come on board; a new sub-project may need to be added and assigned; deadlines may need to be changed; additional meetings may need to be scheduled; and clients may need to be brought on board at different points. Such flexibility allows collaboration to be maintained as a project moves along. Clients are considered “Lite Users,” and there is no charge for their entry and participation.

Secure and Permission-Based Platform:

Of course, this is not a unique feature of project management software. But Fusioo has a nice visual representation of permissions. The configurations are easy to set up by ticking fields of action that each user can take. Users are added with an easy drag and drop feature.

Customer data is all stored on ISO27001/27002-compliant Microsoft Azure servers. Backups are conducted hourly and housed in several geographic locations to prevent loss of data, work or accessibility in the event of a natural disaster.

All team members on the same project can create their own visuals to represent their work or progress – metrics, charts, graphs, etc. This allows flexibility of presentation that works best for the data being managed and tracked.

Other Key Features:

Users can import data from Excel spreadsheets; the calendar feature provides one centralized view for all aspects of a project or the set-up of sub-calendars for tasks within a larger project.

There is an established and effective support system. Each app has documentation; users can also submit support tickets and there is a chat feature for one-on-one personal support.

Pricing is simple and based upon the number of users. If you choose monthly billing, the cost is $12/user. If you choose annual billing, however, the price is more affordable – $9/user. There is no contract, and a user can choose to stop at any time. Lite users (customers or clients) are free.

There is also a free 14-day trial.

Target Market

This hosted service is best for freelancers, small consulting firms, startups, and for companies or teams that do not have IT specialists on board. Larger companies may find this hosted service too restrictive.

Pros and Cons

  • Very easy to use for those who do not have a lot of technical expertise
  • Importing data from Excel is a real plus
  • Very secure and minimal risk of losing data (hourly backup)
  • Really cost efficient for solopreneurs and small businesses
  • Can be used to manage various business areas, including CRM and Project Management
  • No dedicated mobile application. However, the workspace is optimized for smaller devices. If you need mobile, you may want to check out other software options.
  • No integration with other applications. Public API and Zapier integration will be available soon.

This is a great hosted project management tool for small businesses and teams that want to pick and choose the features they want and when there is not a lot of IT skill present. And for the budget conscious, it is certainly affordable.
