Naps are often seen as a luxury. You only got 4 hours of sleep the night before and don’t have enough hours in the day to complete even half of your to-do list, so why would you even consider taking time out to sleep in the middle of the day?
It turns out that napping can actually be super effective if done correctly. It can make the hours you are conscious more productive, not to mention less time wasted standing in the coffee line. Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your napping experience:
- The optimal napping hour is between 1-3pm
- Find a dark, quiet place for your nap.
- 10-20 minutes is the ideal length for a power nap and boost in energy.
- To avoid a deep sleep, it’s best to nap slightly upright.
While you should always strive to get enough sleep at night, 8hrs a night is not always possible. However, countless studies have been done on the importance of sleep, so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that it doesn’t hurt to try to sneak some in whenever possible.
Napping is so important that we’re sharing not just one, but TWO infographics on the topic.
