You will probably never be the next Coca-Cola or Kleenex. And that’s okay. Your goal is growth, new and repeat customers, and regularly increasing profits that meet your revenue goals. To get that, you know you need to spread your brand, locally, nationally, or internationally depending on the target audience you have already set.
You probably already know the basics. You need a great site, a business blog, and you need to have a social media presence that aligns with where your target audience is. Beyond that, however, you need additional tactics that will create engagement, relationships, trust, and name recognition. Here are some additional tactics you will want to consider.
Set Up a Rewards Program if Users Share Your Content
You can provide extras to users and customers if they are willing to share your content, posts, or website with their communities. Word-of-mouth is still a powerful tool, even though it is now web-based. It is actually easier for your users and customers to do this – just a few clicks and a comment. Offer free products or upgrades – something of real value.
Prizes must be valuable, of course. But this is a great way to get your current users/customers to share your brand with their communities. ModCloth does a great job of this – offering free clothing items for the winning creative entries naming those clothing items.
Get a Cause
Millennials make up the largest buying sector in our economy today. And they like to do business with companies that have social responsibility and support causes. Toms Shoes donates a free pair to a needy child for every pair purchased by a customer. It publicizes this program all over social media with impressive results. Today, it is a multi-million dollar corporation with a recent huge investment infusion from Bain Capital.
Customers and followers love stories – funny, poignant, or inspirational. The more stories you can tell that involve customers, the better. These are shared. Remember, content is now a product, as much as what you are actually selling.
Dollar Shave Club has an explainer video on its home page that is so engaging, it has over 24 million views. It’s hilarious.
Ensure Your Web Host Is Reliable
All of the best and creative content is meaningless, if visitors have difficulty accessing your site after you have promoted it all over the place. Items with your brand name imprinted on them can be included in any item you ship to a customer. Have a variety of things based upon the amount a customer spends, from key chains, to mugs, to T-shirts.

Promote your products or service locally by having your car wrapped. This wrapping can be removed and put back on as you wish, but what a great want for people to see your brand name.
Become a Thought Leader with Guest Posts and Podcasts
Get you and your brand out there as a leader in your niche. Write creative, entertaining content and post it on popular blogs. Begin a podcast series during which you interview other leaders and influencers in your niche.
Pick Your Social Media Platforms Carefully and then Go All Out
Hang out where the majority of your target customers do and launch a daily campaign of posting engaging content. Place ads on those platforms regularly too. The idea is to get your brand name in front of as many eyes as possible, but only those eyes that will actually become customers. Spreading yourself too thin will mean nothing is done effectively.
