Top 19 Startups and Apps in India Announced at MobiSparks Conference

On November 25, Indian startup blog YourStory.in hosted the MobiSparks conference and startup showcase in Bangalore.

As part of the event, YourStory.in released a report on the mobile industry in India and named the top 19 startups and apps in the country, selected by judges.  The lineup shows a penchant for startups targeting enterprise and small businesses, and those taking advantage of widespread mobile phone use.

“India has latent need for enterprise products and it’s surely poised to grow at a very fast pace,” says Shradha Sharma, founder of YourStory.in. “Early-stage entrepreneurs are leveraging this huge, fragmented space and we are seeing some very interesting startups emerge.”

Here are the top 19 startups and apps in India from MobiSparks:

Enterprise/Business 

Grene Robotics: Technology that helps companies track their fleet of vehicles and monitor location, fuel consumption, and speed. Located in India with an office in New York.

Visarity Technology: Creators of Flikz, an interactive augmented reality experience around movies.

App Me In: A company that builds enterprise apps like Automapic, which helps managers keep tabs on teams who work remotely, like salespeople. Founded by Rajeev Purnaiya, the former CEO of WebEx India.

Uniphore: Creating mobile technologies that connect businesses to their employees and customers through voice and text messages or apps. Cofounder Umesh Sachdev helped create Proto.in, a large startup showcase in India.

AstralPad: An iPad app that allows teams to collaborate on Microsoft Office documents. Cofounded by MBAs Rahul Singh and Sushmita Patra.

Rhapsody Labs: Builds augmented reality technology, including a digital fitting room and interactive signs.

RainingClouds Technologies: Creators of AppSurfer, an app recommendation platform that helps developers get more downloads and users find cool apps.

MintM Loyalty Services: A platform for businesses to increase customer loyalty with deals and rewards. Cofounded by Sachin Garg and Vibhor Gupta, who both have over 10 years experience with software and hardware companies.

LoReMo: An app that lets stores offer points and rewards for check-ins.

Consumer

Jana Care: Using mobile phones to combat “diabesity,” diabetes and obesity. Cofounded by Sidhant Jena, Michal Depa, Pratik Mandrekar, and Billy Shore.

AirGol.com: iPhone and Android apps to capture real-time videos and share them with friends and family. Founded by Baati Mittal.

Sound Ventures: Creators of Twaang, an Android app with a library of Indian music.

Hubbl: An app discovery platform based on hashtags.

WooMe: An app that sends targeted deals to customers based on what radio shows they are listening to.

Demach: Creators of PhonOn, an app for leaving voice messages the same way you leave text messages.

Software

IQLECT: Software that helps developers do real-time analysis of data. Founded by Sachin Sinha, who has 15 years experience that includes time at Amazon and Microsoft.

Remo Software: Creating software that can recover, erase, manage, and optimize data on computers and mobile phones. Led by CEO Omer Faiyaz, who has 13 years of experience in technology operations and marketing.

Gadgets

SectorQube Technolabs: Builds electronics powered by Android, like MAID, a microwave oven that cooks food automatically. Launched by seven cofounders who met in college.

MobileCozy Solutions: A small device that plugs into smartphones and allows small businesses to accept credit and debit cards, similar to Square. Founded by entrepreneur and startup mentor Sainath Gupta.
