BigCommerce Pricing Plans
BigCommerce has four pricing tiers, each of which is designed to cater to businesses in different phases of their development. With all BigCommerce plans, you’ll be treated to unlimited products, storage, and bandwidth. On top of that, you’ll pay no transaction fees with leading payment gateways across all paid plans. Here’s how they compare:
- Standard ($29 per month) – An excellent starting point for up to three online stores, with mobile functionality, digital payment options and professional reporting.
- Plus ($79 per month) – A competitively priced mid-tier plan for up to five online stores, adding advanced ecommerce features like stored credit cards and abandoned cart recovery.
- Pro ($299 per month) – A robust, large operation ecommerce plan for up to eight online stores, adding features like Google reviews and custom product filtering.
- Enterprise (Custom) – A customizable enterprise-level plan that offers a more open platform thanks to API functionality and support.
Friendly reminder that, while BigCommerce does not offer a free plan, it does provide users with a 15-day free trial that allows you access to all Plus plan features at no cost. Even better, you don’t need to include any credit card information to do so.

BigCommerce Standard
- Best for businesses on a budget that still need unlimited products
- $29 per month billed annually
Despite its low price, we found that the BigCommerce Standard plan offered most of the tools you need to run an online store. We were able to sell an unlimited number of products, and we could use pretty much any payment processor you want (unlike Shopify). Plus, with no transaction fees being charged on all paid plans, you can this perk at a low price point.
The Standard plan does fall short when it comes to marketing and advanced features, like customer group segmentation and stored credit cards, so if you want to grow your online store, you’ll probably need to pay a bit extra to get that going.
BigCommerce Plus
- Best for businesses that need more marketing
- $79 per month billed annually
BigCommerce Plus is a great option for businesses looking to level up from just a basic online store. The tier allowed us to access advanced site functions like abandoned card recovery and stored credit card options, tools that are known to bring repeat customers back more frequently. The Plus plan also gives you access to customer groups, which can help you narrow your marketing efforts for specific types of visitors.
All pricing plans also give you access to more potential storefronts. The Plus plan allows you to create five online stores, whereas the Standard plan only allows for three.
BigCommerce Pro
- Best for businesses with a wide variety of products
- $299 per month billed annually
BigCommerce Pro is meant for online stores that have a lot of different products to sell in their online store. This plan unlocks the custom product filtering functionality, which will allow your customers to more effectively search for the specific products they want amongst your large inventory.
On top of that, this plan unlocks Google reviews, which helped us attract more customers to our store and provide a bit of authority to the value of the products we sell.
BigCommerce Enterprise Plan
- Best for the enterprise-level businesses
- $POA
There’s no set price for BigCommerce Enterprise — you have to call up and agree to one with BigCommerce. The name of the game is customizability for this plan, as it unlocks API access and support, so we were able to make our online store exactly how we wanted it.
While all BigCommerce plans have 24/7 US-based customer support, the Enterprise plan unlocks premier support, giving you better access to the time to solve your problems.
As a result, it’s a bit tricky to say whether it’ll be good value for money. However, you’ll be able to sell over $400k per year, while your site will get custom product filtering and priority access to help and support features.
Pros
- 0% transaction fees on all plans
- Excellent shipping options both locally and globally
- 15-day free trial to test it before you make a decision
Cons
- Restrictive pricing plans based on annual turnover
- Limited template customization
- Steep learning curve with little assistance
Using BigCommerce for Free
BigCommerce doesn’t have a free plan, but interested users can sign up for a free trial period lasting 15 days, giving you access to all Plus plan features before you make a financial commitment.
That’s not out of the ordinary for a website builder like BigCommerce — top rivals including Shopify, Squarespace, and Volusion all offer free trials in place of an ongoing free plan. The only outliers are Wix, Square, and Big Cartel, which do indeed offer free plans. Each comes with some limits: Wix comes with ads and non-custom URLs, Square still charges a small fee for each purchase, Big Cartel’s plan limits sellers to a maximum of just five products.
We’d recommend trying out BigCommerce for a few weeks before committing, in order to verify that its features cover all your needs. Alternatively, check out our guide to the best free website builders if a paid option is genuinely out of the question, even if the future.

BigCommerce Pricing vs Competitors
When it comes to entry level plans, BigCommerce’s pricing of $29 per month for its Standard plan is a bit higher than the industry average, which tends to be closer to $20 per month.
However, the value that BigCommerce’s plans have to offer is high across the board as well, meaning that the cost-to-value ratio pushes it above some alternative options that may technically be cheaper, fueled largely by the lack of transaction fees on all plans and unlimited products on all plans. In fact, we found it to be one of the best values in our research of the best website builders for online stores, comparing favorably to other options like Square.
Still, a few website builders remain strongly competitive. Shopify provides a lot more sales functionality, Wix provides more design flexibility, and Squarespace offers a better user experience, according to our research.

Verdict: Is BigCommerce a Good Value?
BigCommerce is designed for serious ecommerce platforms and is an excellent option when it comes to inventory management, thanks to great tools and standout backend functionality. Plus, the 15-day free trial is a good way to give it a try without too much of a commitment.
Yes, there are website builder platforms that have arguably more attractive templates — Wix is one of the more user-friendly ones and perfect for a small boutique store thanks to its competitive pricing, while Shopify offers plenty of third-party apps and strong multi-channel integration. But the templates shouldn’t matter as much as the underlying ecommerce platform, and BigCommerce gives you one of the best around.
