Starting at $14.95 per month, GPS Insight offers the cheapest fleet management service in the US, and it comes with an appealing, intuitive interface on desktop and the comprehensive mobile app as well. The software covers most features but not all, so GPS Insight might not be a fit for a large or complex fleet, but the combination of a low price and just-the-basics approach should appeal to plenty of small operations. GPS Insight serves any fleet size.
GPS Insight Highlights
GPS Insight, not to be confused with similarly-named fleet management provider GPS Trackit, offers a software service on a monthly subscription, as well as a raft of hardware options. The service stands out for its usability, thanks to its simple but effective routing and dispatch abilities, capable support team, and range of alerts.
Another feature of GPS Insight that's sure to catch most fleet managers' attention is the low starting price. However, costs will vary depending on a fleet's size and needs – we'd recommend taking a minute to gather quotes using Tech.co's price comparison tool before settling on a service.
Software: Intuitive and straightforward, GPS Insight's software is a big plus for the service, highlighting its overall ease of use.
Hardware: GPS Insight offers plenty of hardware options to choose from, providing something for everyone. You'll pay extra for installation, though.
Pricing: Starting at $14.95 per month per vehicle, GPS Insight has some of the lowest prices around. The catch? If you need to add extra features, costs will quickly rise to meet the industry average of around $30 to $35 per month per vehicle. For example, you'll need to pay a little extra for ELD compliance, even though this feature is a must for US fleets.
Top Features: The software offers complex routing and dispatch functionality, but makes it easy to assign drivers to their vehicles and jobs. The driver safety features are also top-notch, offering
Integrations: GPS Insight doesn't track fuel purchases, but does support integrations with a small handful of fuel card services.
Mobile app: GPS Insight does come with a comprehensive mobile app on iOS and Android that allows you to do almost everything from your smartphone.
Ease of Use: Unbeatable. GPS Insight is easy to pick up, thanks to two key strengths. First, the software interface is simple and intuitive, across both the manager's dashboard and the driver app. Second, the support team is helpful and fast to respond — while support hours are not technically 24/7, the team will get back to you around the clock for any urgent requests.

GPS Insight Fleet Tracking Mobile App

GPS Insight Reviews
Absolutely amazing! GPS Insight allows me to track all of my vehicles very easily and the customer service is fantastic.
I’ve been working with this system almost a year and it’s really helpful. I never have any kind of issue with it and i really recommend it.
I spend most of the week at different job sites with my technicians and equipment, so I am rarely at my desk. The GPS Insight Manager app allows me to view and manage my fleet easily. It is a huge help when I am able to dispatch my closest technicians to a customer who calls in requesting immediate service.

As you may have noticed, with GPS Insight, there's a lot of variance in each pricing range. This is because a lot of factors can influence a fleet's final price tag. The size of the fleet is a major factor: A fleet of under 500 vehicles will pay the base price, but larger fleets will see lower per-vehicle prices, with fleets of 5,000+ vehicles benefiting from the lowest-priced tier. Hardware costs depend on the specific unit used, which will varying depending on the features a fleet needs, as well as the year, make, and model of each vehicle.
The best way to get an accurate, fleet-specific quote is to contact GPS Insight directly, or take a minute to fill out Tech.co's quotes collection form, which will help you gather and compare custom quotes from other top fleet management services.
Managers can use their GPS Insight dashboard to track their fleet on a regularly updated map, giving them the real-time visibility they need throughout the day to verify that drivers are on track, or to respond quickly to unexpected events. Fleet data can be filtered by vehicle type, date, and time, and vehicles can be color-coded according to how the manager wants to group them. Updates are typically every two to five minutes.
Managers can also access historical data from past trips via their dashboard, whether on a desktop or through a mobile device.
Routing and Dispatch
Each driver's remaining hours of service can also be viewed, so that managers can plan which drivers to assign to available vehicles and dispatch to a new job. Frequent routes and stops can be pre-set in order to optimize them to the fleet's speed and highway preferences. Two-way messaging also helps managers and drivers communicate freely.
A “Drop pin” function lets managers drag and drop new pins to any location on their map. They can rapidly dispatch to or from this spot: The software will automatically find the nearest active vehicle, find and alert the driver to the physical address, and can turn the location into a landmark so it can be quickly pulled up for future use.
The landmark function is GPS Insight's version of geofencing, whereby alerts can be set to trigger if a driver enters or leaves specific landmark areas.
Managers can track driver habits and status, thanks to a series of useful alerts for a variety of needs: Diagnostics, hours of service, granular maintenance needs, ignition, idle times, speeding, towing, and unauthorized tampering can all be monitored with alerts, which can be sent to multiple email addresses or mobile phones.
GPS Insight doesn't offer traffic or weather alerts, but the map is color-coded, turning a route green or red to indicate the speed of traffic in real time.
Driving violation summary reports can be generated, letting managers spot overall trends in the data that might reveal which drivers consistently perform the best or which vehicle types are more susceptible. Violations can be sorted by 100 miles, by driver, or by violation type. Crash reporting is not included, although other driving habits like harsh braking, acceleration, or sharp turns might compensate. Engine temperature is also not tracked.
Fuel can also be tracked, letting managers see how many gallons were used per journey and how many miles were driven per gallon. GPS Insight bundles the fuel data that managers need to comply with the IFTA fuel tax into one location – the State Mileage report.
GPS Insight doesn't offer its own feature to track fuel purchases, but it does support four fuel card integrations that do the job: These are Comdata, Fleetcor, Voyager, and WEX.
Reporting and Analytics
Vehicle activity can be logged in reports and through the main map, where it can be viewed by individual vehicle or by a set time (e.g. the past hour). This activity is represented as stops and movements.
Reports can be generated that present driver activity in terms of everything from monthly fuel use across the fleet, to safety violations, to vehicle speed trends. Maintenance records aren't kept beyond alerts, however.
Asset tracking functionality is included in the core fleet management product, and can be applied to many high-value powered assets. Alerts can be set for assets just as for vehicles – towing alerts are particularly useful – while temperature sensors are available, but only for an additional cost of $25 per unit.
US law requires ELD compliance from any commercial vehicle fleet. While ELD compliance isn't included in GPS Insight's core features, it's easy to implement as an add-on for an additional cost. GPS Insight offers an ELD Mobile driver app, which lets drivers stay compliant with US law and easily generate their daily Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
The simple app interface includes buttons to let drivers start and stop their On Duty status, as well as view their DVIR, Logs, Roadside Inspection report, and settings. Drivers can also receive pre- and post-trip inspection prompts, ensuring they won't forget any steps.
The service includes two-way communication so managers can communicate smoothly with drivers at will, and includes GPS location tracking capabilities as well. A DVIR-only solution, DVIR Mobile, is also available for any fleets that don't fall under the ELD mandate.
GPS Insight offers a simple, straightforward interface without the bells and whistles. Toss in its top-rated support team, and it's a strong contender for any fleets hoping to adopt an intuitive system with a gentle learning curve.
However, while it's tempting to call GPS Insight the best option for cost-conscious fleets (thanks to a $14.95 starting fee that's the cheapest on the market), the truth is that costs can creep up fast. In the end, depending on your fleet's needs and vehicle types, the value-to-cost ratio may not be right for you. And there's only one way to find out: By snagging a custom quote.
- Great routing and dispatch features
- Strong support team
- Intuitive interface
- ELD compliance costs extra
- Installation costs extra
- No traffic or weather alerts
