1. Wix
- Best overall restaurant website builder
- Price from: $17 per month (Free version available)
Whether you run a deli, a diner, or a restaurant, there’s no doubt about it – Wix is the best website builder on the market. It has some seriously advanced website functionality to really improve your business’s chances of attracting new customers, as well as offering a lot of creative freedom, so you can make your website look exactly how you want it. Plus, with a simple onboarding system, you’ll be able to figure it out easily, even if you’re a new user.
To help you get started, the platform offers over 85 restaurant and hospitality templates to use as a jumping-off point. Whether you’re managing a full-service restaurant or a cafe that serves food, Wix will have a template that’s been specifically designed to suit your style of business. Its templates are highly customizable too, and if you’re not happy with these restrictions, you can utilize the AI designer to spin up a website from a few prompts.

Wix offers a platform specifically for food businesses – Wix Restaurants. Wix Restaurants is made up of three different core apps: Menus, Orders, and Table Reservations, as well as additional integrations from its app store. With Wix Restaurants, users can showcase everything that their business has to offer with a professional menu, as well as implement online ordering, takeaway, and table booking.
The Online Ordering app lets you accept gift cards, issue refunds, collect payments through multiple methods, generate invoices, and track orders. Unfortunately, you’re not able to manage a business with multiple locations, so multi-venue franchises might want to look elsewhere.
Wix understands the value of marketing and offers an impressive selection of tools for getting your business seen by as many new customers as possible. Among them, you’ll get detailed site analytics, lead capture forms, and Google Ads promotion on all paid plans, so you won’t have to break the bank to expand your customer base.

2. Squarespace
- Best restaurant website builder for beginners
- Price from: $19 per month
While Wix is certainly our top pick for website builders, we must admit that Squarespace gives it a run for its money. While it may not offer as many website themes as Wix, the popular website builder boasts some of the most beautiful templates in the industry, allowing for an aesthetically pleasing experience for users on every page.
It also provides the seamless ability to scale with your business, with robust analytics and marketing features in email and social media to grow your restaurant’s customer base.

Squarespace is undoubtedly the easiest website builder on the market. It’s clearly committed to providing users with a stripped-back, intuitive interface that’s extremely easy to navigate. Because of its solid user experience, Squarespace will be a great choice for restaurants that are building a website for the first time.
Like Wix, Squarespace has its own dedicated website-building platform for restaurants, fitted out with menu management software, table reservation options, and online ordering integrations.
However, unlike Wix, which charges a flat-rate fee per order for its integration with delivery service DoorDash, Squarespace’s ChowNow integration starts at $229 per month – an entry fee that might be steep for smaller delivery businesses.

While the templates are beautiful, they aren’t as easy to customize as the likes of Wix, which means you’re kind of stuck with what you get. Fortunately, in this case, what you get is a beautiful website design, so that’s not a huge problem. Site speed also leaves a bit to be desired, but overall, we’d still highly recommend Squarespace for your restaurant.

3. Shopify
- Best website builder for established restaurants
- Price from: $29 per month
Shopify is an ecommerce website builder that’s perfectly suited to restaurants that handle high volumes of orders. While lots of website builders, like Wix and Squarespace, are designed with the needs of small businesses in mind, Shopify will be able to meet the needs of established, chain restaurants with ease due to its advanced delivery, tax, and internationalization features, multi-location management tools, and seamless ecommerce integrations.

If you manage a large restaurant that delivers food or sells products like merchandise or gift cards, Shopify should be on your radar. It offers some of the best stock management features on the market, alongside a wealth of perks for sellers, including international commerce options and low transaction fees.
Shopify also integrates with a wide range of online ordering and reservation platforms, like DoorDash and OpenTable, making it easier for businesses to unlock new streams of revenue. Aside from external add-ons, Shopify also has a native POS integration, unlike the other options on this list.
This makes Shopify a natural choice for restaurants that are already using the POS, as the integration makes it easy for businesses to sync up brick-and-mortar and online sales data. All told, it’s far and away the best option for hospitality businesses that operate multiple venues, but smaller, independent venues should probably look elsewhere, as Shopify has a pretty steep learning curve due to its sheer number of features.

Shopify is capable of building polished business profiles. However, if you want to build a simple site to display menus and opening times, the platform’s ecommerce capabilities will be lost on you. What’s more, if these are your only requirements, you can save a chunk of money by opting for Hostinger or a similarly priced platform.

4. GoDaddy
While GoDaddy might lack the bells and whistles offered by more premium builders like Wix, if you’re looking to build a simple website without investing tons of time and energy, it’ll likely be a great match for you.
When we tested out GoDaddy ourselves, we were able to build our website in under 30 seconds. This impressive setup speed is largely due to GoDaddy’s AI website builder, which automates a lot of the setup and creation process.
The website builder also offers a raft of other AI capabilities like text and social media content generators, which makes the platform a great option for restaurateurs who want to be assisted through the website creation process.
GoDaddy lets us pick between a lot of different options when deciding on our website theme. Source: Tech.co testing
GoDaddy also lets you select your business’s vertical as you’re setting up, before providing you with stock images and template options that are appropriate for your business. This is a neat way of streamlining the design for more niche businesses, such as a wine shop, that might otherwise have struggled to find appropriate imagery.
Compared to website builders like Wix and Shopify, GoDaddy’s in-house capabilities are quite lacking. For example, the platform doesn’t let you make changes to your mobile site, and ecommerce sellers aren’t able to customize the checkout page with their personalized branding. GoDaddy doesn’t have an app store either, making it harder for food businesses to integrate with reservation and online ordering services. Notably, it’s the only provider on this list that doesn’t provide integrations.
Due to these shortfalls, GoDaddy will probably struggle to meet the needs of established restaurants and food delivery businesses. If you fall into this category, we’d recommend opting for more feature-rich builders like Wix or Shopify instead.

How Do I Choose the Right Restaurant Builder?
Every website builder brings something slightly unique to the table. So, when whittling down the competition, you need to work out which platform is the most capable of meeting your restaurant’s specific needs. This means that, before moving forward with a solution, you need to have a clear understanding of your website’s goals. I.e, is it to generate more sales, increase your brand’s exposure, or showcase products and dishes?
With so much to consider, we’ve rounded up some important questions you should be asking yourself when shopping for a restaurant website builder:
Can this builder boost my sales?
For lots of restaurant owners, a website is a vital tool for increasing revenue. So, whether you’re building a site to facilitate online orders or to manage bookings, finding a builder that offers compatible features is imperative. For example, if you’re already working with a third-party delivery app like DoorDash, find a provider that offers the integration, like Squarespace or Wix. Alternatively, if you want to handle reservations in-house, consider builders like GoDaddy.
Does it offer the other features I need?
If the primary goal of your website is to showcase your restaurant’s offerings, you need to make sure your chosen builder will be up to the task. For example, if you want to display your dishes or products visually, choosing a portfolio-based website builder like Squarespace would be a good idea. Or, if you want to show off your items with an up-to-date menu, you’ll need to prioritize platforms with menu creation and editing software.
Is it easy to use?
Every second you spend creating a website is taking you away from your restaurant. So when choosing a website builder, finding one with a user-friendly interface is important, especially if it’s your first time building a site. If you’re looking for an ultra-intuitive builder that lends itself well to web builder novices, Squarespace will be our top recommendation, while Hostinger also takes a lot of legwork out of the process, thanks to its raft of AI features.
Can it create a good-looking website?
At the end of the day, if your site doesn’t look good, it won’t be very engaging for your audience. To make sure your restaurant looks great and meets up to your expectations, choosing a website builder with a strong design toolkit is essential. If it’s varied, industry-specific templates you’re after, Wix should be on your radar with the builder offering over 2,000 responsive themes to choose from, while Squarespace’s professional themes and granular customization options will ensure your site looks polished and modern.
Can it improve my brand visibility?
You can build the best website in the world, but if it won’t get seen, your efforts and wasted. To ensure your website is able to rank well and raise the profile of your business, choosing a website builder with an advanced SEO toolkit is key. Specifically, finding builders that offer local SEO features, like Wix and GoDaddy, will be even more useful to help connect you with customers in your area.
What Features are You Looking for in a Website Builder?
CompareMethodology: How We Test Restaurant Website Builders
We take our impartial research and analysis seriously, so you can have complete confidence that we’re giving you the clearest, most useful product recommendations.
After conducting an initial exploration to identify the most relevant, popular, and established tools in the market, we put them through their paces with hands-on testing to see their real strengths and weaknesses. In this case, we put 16 website builder products to the test across 398 areas of investigation.
Based on years of market and user needs research, we’ve established a website builder testing methodology that scores each product in six core categories of investigation and 33 subcategories. This covers everything, from customer feedback to design, ease of use, and more.
Our main testing categories for website builders are:
- Website features: The capabilities and functionalities offered by a website builder, e.g. blog functionality, SEO capability, and marketing capacity.
- Design functionality: The aesthetic appeal and visual layout of a website created using a website builder. It encompasses aspects such as page templates and customizable themes.
- Customer satisfaction: External customer opinion. This is the feedback and ratings given by customers who have used a particular website builder — the market position and reputation a website builder holds.
- User experience: How user-friendly and intuitive a website builder is for people with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Value for money: The balance between the cost of a website builder and the benefits it provides. It considers factors such as pricing plans, subscription models, and available features.
- Help and support: The assistance and resources available to users when they encounter issues or need guidance while using a website builder.
When it comes to calculating a product’s final score, not all testing areas are weighted evenly, as we know some aspects matter more to our readers than others, which are simply “nice to have”. After hundreds of hours, our process is complete, and the results should ensure you can find the best solution for your needs.
At Tech.co, we have a number of full-time in-house researchers, who re-run this testing process regularly, to ensure our results remain reflective of the present day.
Which website builder should you choose for your restaurant? We’ve tested the biggest website builder brands on the market, and our top choice is Wix, thanks to its industry-specific platform Wix Restaurants, highly customizable templates, and wealth of integrations with reservation and delivery services like OpenTable and DoorDash.
If you’re building a restaurant website for the first time, or if you manage a unique or contemporary food business, we’d recommend using Squarespace instead. Its professionally designed templates are able to make any business website look good, and its low learning curve lends itself perfectly to website builder beginners.
Shopify is another great option for established chain restaurants, especially if they sell items like merch and gift cards on the side.
