WeWork Expands to Miami, Five Spaces In Development

This week one of the largest co-working spaces has moseyed on down south and opened its very first location in Miami, Florida. This week, WeWork Lincoln Road opened its doors to startups in the area, but this time with a specific focus in mind: supporting the thriving Latin American Entrepreneurial community. This story is sponsored by WeWork.

Located at 350 Lincoln Road, the space currently features two floors of co-working spaces, conference rooms, and more. Once complete, this will be the first of five new WeWork locations in the Miami area and feature 40,000 square feet spread across four floors. In total, WeWork Lincoln Road will be home to 750 workspaces, which according to A Better Miami Beach, will make this the largest co-working space is South Florida. Needless to say, their new residents are already getting excited.

While WeWork is noted to be a co-working space, their member amenities give them a competitive edge. In fact, because of this advantage the company raised an additional $400M for a valuation of $10B. In less than one year, WeWork more than doubled their valuation. With their initial co-working space expansion to the South Beach area of Miami also brings free conference rooms, printing, event space, private phone booths, access to each of their other locations, their famous network of more than 25,000 entrepreneurs, and all the coffee and beer that you can drink (and apparently the occasional champagne).

“We’re in the heart of South Beach, so there’s retail, night clubs, high-end restaurants, and nice hotels,” stated Joshua Gaviria, WeWork’s expansion lead. “It’s definitely a vacation destination, so you’ll find a lot of touristy spots nearby the office. Miami’s challenge is trying to change people’s perception of it as a beach scene and turn it into a more professional one.”

This particular part of South Florida lacks a business community, and primarily is home to bars and clubs. The new WeWork Lincoln Road will bring a much needed daytime crowd to the area, creating a positive impact on local businesses.

“We chose this area by the beach because we knew it could use something more professional,” stated Gaviria. “Having the beach close by makes it a fun place to work.”
