What do we like about Wix?
The Wix AI Website Builder will create a site for you in less than 10 minutes. With a highly familiar chatbot-style interface, Wix asked us a few simple questions, like what the website would be used for, to create our site for us without any other input.
After my site was generated, Wix AI Website Builder gave me the option to regenerate design, which would completely change the look of the suggested site, or tweak design, which would make smaller changes to the suggested site. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make tweaks myself until the site was fully built, something that is available with Squarespace.

Wix has a vast selection of AI tools to maintain and edit your website after it has been built. One example is a dedicated AI section creator that will allow you to generate bespoke new sections from a written prompt.
With this, you can iteratively improve your page and avoid design fatigue — all without needing make laborious manual changes.
One of the most valuable AI tools offered by Wix is the AI image editor, which allowed me to remove backgrounds and specific items in images. It wasn’t always perfect, with some repetitive and inaccurate generations, but overall, it was a very useful way of refining my page.
Other tools include an AI image generator that I used to create original images from a written prompt. What’s more, Wix lets you choose which style you’d like your image to be, with examples including “painting,” “cartoon,” and more. This way, you can add images that align with your page’s look and feel.

What AI features does Wix offer?
Here are some of the AI features available with Wix:
- AI text creator
- AI section creator
- Theme assistant
- Switch layouts tool
- Image auto-enhancement
- Auto-background removal
- AI image creator
- Upscale resolution
- Extend image
- Object eraser
- AI image editor
Is it easy to switch to Wix?
Yes, it’s pretty easy to switch to Wix from another platform. Its robust set of features might prove daunting to first-time users, but it boasts excellent 24/7 customer support, free online courses to boost your skills, and a comprehensive help center for resolving queries yourself.
However, it is much more difficult and time-consuming for users who want to migrate their existing site from another platform. While you can import WordPress blogs directly into Wix, moving designs and media across is a lengthy process that requires various plugins — and depending on your existing platform, it may not be possible at all.
2. Is Squarespace a Good Option for Creative Businesses?
- Starting price: $16 per month (10% off with code TC10)
- Free plan: No
Yes, Squarespace is an outstanding AI website builder for creative businesses. During our latest round of user testing, we concluded that it offers the broadest scope for customization during the site-building process. What’s more, with 194 beautiful website templates to choose from, it’s highly likely that you’ll find something that chimes with your brand.
Our research rated Squarespace as the easiest website builder to use for beginners, thanks to an intuitive interface that still provides a lot of simple customization. It was a pleasure for me to test.
Squarespace’s AI builder, Blueprint AI, asks you questions about your business goals, brand, and industry, before offering useful recommendations and a real-time preview of your website, which you’re able to make further edits to.

What do we like about Squarespace?
First and foremost, Squarespace is a platform built with visually-oriented businesses in mind. If you want to create a brand with a distinctive look and feel, it should be top of your list.
With excellent built-in booking and scheduling tools, Squarespace is a particularly good option for users who want to seamlessly manage appointments, such as tattoo artists or haridressers.
The platform makes it easy for users with little tech experience to make a good-looking site. However, when I tested out Squarespace’s AI builder, I found that the end results always ended up looking fairly generic and similar to each other.
While you are able to edit the site further to suit your preferences, Squarespace is less capable than Wix and Hostinger at making unique websites off the bat. However, it has a shallower learning curve than Wix, so you will definitely be able to create a website more quickly.

The team was highly impressed with Squarespace’s step-by-step AI builder, which guided users through the process with minimal fuss. One did note some disappointment with the AI text generator, however, which was quite slow to generate and provided very basic copy. Largely, though, it was a highly positive experience.

What AI features does Squarespace offer?
Here are some of the AI features available with Squarespace:
- Text generator
- Brand identity creator
- Rewrite existing text
- SEO text generator
- Background image creation
Is it easy to switch to Squarespace?
As one of the most intuitive platforms on the market, it’s very easy for new users to pick up Squarespace for the first time. The platform also offers dedicated 24/7 support on all plans, so you can get any queries resolved at any time.
Squarespace offers platform-specific guides for users who want to migrate an existing site across to the platform. Transferring a domain across is easy enough, but it is not currently possible to import your layout, design, fonts, or other content.
3. Is Hostinger the Cheapest AI Website Builder?
- Starting price: $1.99 per month and three months free
- Free plan: No
Yes, Hostinger is the cheapest AI website builder by some distance. Starting at just $1.99 per month, with three months for free, Hostinger is an extremely attractive proposition for users who want to build a site without breaking the bank.
While it lacks advanced features like a third-party app market and integrated email marketing tools, Hostinger has an impressive core AI toolkit. In particular, its website builder will generate a lot of relevant copy for you during the initial setup, which sets it apart from Wix.
Check out our Hostinger review for more information.
Pros
- Very affordable platform compared with other options
- Unique logo generator to improve branding
- Great for generating copy with AI-powered tools
- Duplicate content in other languages
Cons
- No app store for third party integrations
- Not many color options to choose from in design editor
- Ecommerce functionality reserved for more expensive plans
- 30-day money back guarantee
- Pricing starts at $1.99/month + 3 months for free
- Renewal price from $12.99/month
- Up to 85% off (deal active now)
- Free 1 year of 1 domain included with all plans
What do we like about Hostinger?
Hostinger is a highly capable AI website builder with a rock-bottom entry price. Simply provide a name, site type, and a short description of what you’re looking for, and the platform will generate a site for you in under a minute.
Unlike Wix, Hostinger won’t generate a business name for you, but like Wix, it gives you three different layouts to choose from when you set up your website using the AI builder. This is a neat touch that gives you a bit more flexibility of choice — and it’s pretty generous for $1.99 per month.
In terms of the AI website builder itself, our team praised its ability to create content that “reflected [our] brand identity,” but thought the quality of AI-generated images was poor. To its credit, Hostinger also has a library of more than 170 pre-built templates, which is almost as many as Squarespace (but significantly fewer than Wix).

What AI features does Hostinger offer?
Here are some of the AI features available with Hostinger:
- AI writer
- Logo generator
- Image generator
- Blog generator
- AI heat map
- SEO assistant

Is it easy to switch to Hostinger?
Yes, it’s easy for first-time users to pick up Hostinger. It has a shallow learning curve, thanks to an easy-to-use AI website builder, intuitive interface, and 24/7 customer support on all plans.
Unlike other names on this list, it’s also really easy to migrate your existing site to Hostinger. The platform offers free, unlimited website migrations with no data loss nor downtime.
4. Is Shopify the Best AI Website Builder for Ecommerce?
- Starting price: $5 per month ($1 per month for first three months)
- Free plan: No
Yes, Shopify is the best AI website builder for users who want to start an online store. As an ecommerce website builder at its core, the platform combines powerful selling tools with bountiful AI features.
You can generate a theme based on a written prompt, at which point, you’ll be provided with three options to choose from. If you change your mind, you can always edit your prompt to get a different set of themes.
Shopify is quite expensive. While you can get started for just $5 per month with its Starter plan, this will limit you to selling through social media, messaging apps, or a very rudimentary online storefront. This will be fine for solopreneurs who just want to make an easy buck, but most businesses will need to upgrade.
Check out our Shopify review for more information.

- Basic: $29/month
- Grow: $79/month
- Advanced: $299/month
- Plus: $2,300/month
- $1/month for first three months
- Transaction fees from 2.9% + 30¢
What do we like about Shopify?
Shopify is an unparalleled ecommerce juggernaut, with robust tools for managing inventory and selling online. The platform has also unveiled a suite of powerful AI features, including its flagship AI assistant, Sidekick. For users who want to build an online store with AI, there’s simply no better option out there.
Sidekick guides you through the end-to-end setup process, helping you to create a domain, manage metadata, draft product descriptions, generate ad copy variations for A/B testing, and more. In this respect, it helps you to start, manage, and grow your store.

There’s also Shopify Magic, a suite of integrated tools to assist users with content creation, marketing, and more. For instance, you can edit your product photography, create detailed marketing plans from basic prompts, and create personalized responses to improve your end customer experience.
As mentioned, Shopify is solely aimed at users and businesses who want to sell online. If you’re looking to start a simple online blog, look elsewhere — Shopify’s plans are expensive and you’ll be lumbered with a lot of functionality that you don’t need.
What AI features does Shopify have?
Here are the AI features available with Shopify:
- Text generator
- Image editing
- Background removal and editing
- Chatbot creation
- AI search and filtering
- Smart inventory management

Is it easy to switch to Shopify?
No, it’s not particularly easy to switch to Shopify from another platform. Out of all the providers we tested, Shopify has one of the steeper learning curves, with our researchers noting difficulties with visibility of AI tools, and navigating to the email marketing builder and SEO settings.
It is possible to migrate your existing store to Shopify, and the vendor offers several platform-specific guides for doing just that. However, it is a lengthy and complex process, so you can expect to incur significant downtime.
5. Is GoDaddy the Fastest AI Website Builder?
- Starting price: $9.99 per month
- Free plan: Yes
We found GoDaddy to be the fastest AI website builder on the market, with no platform in our research offering a faster setup time.
With GoDaddy Airo, the platform’s in-built AI toolkit, you’ll get a bespoke domain name, logo, personalized “coming soon” website to use in advance of your actual launch, and enhanced social media marketing.
GoDaddy Airo features are included on every paid plan, or you can pay an additional $26.99 per month for “Airo All Access,” which includes payment, digital marketing, and social media tools, and more.
Check out our GoDaddy review for more information.
Pros
- AI generated websites in two steps (30 seconds)
- 24/7 phone support available for all plans
- Free forever plan can publish site
Cons
- No mobile website editor to modify pages on the go
- Overly generic website design with fewer templates than other builders
- No app market to branch out functionality across your site
- Basic: $9.99/month
- Premium: $14.99/month
- Commerce: $20.99/month
What do we like about GoDaddy?
GoDaddy is an accomplished AI website builder that will literally generate a site for you in seconds. Our research team were amazed by how speedy GoDaddy was. After answering a few basic questions, you’ll have a site created almost immediately that you can edit on the spot.
In case you’re not satisfied with the outcome, click the rainbow circle in the upper right corner, and you’ll find a button that says “try a new design.” This will present you with more than 30 different options based on the original prompt.

Like Squarespace, GoDaddy has a neat built-in bookings tool, so it’s a suitable platform for restaurants, bars, salons, and other retail businesses. Additionally, the mobile app will allow you to manage your site on the go, meaning that you can quickly accept, reschedule, or cancel bookings as required.
Unlike most of the names on this list, GoDaddy has a free plan that will let you build and publish a site with AI. I spent some time testing it out myself, and I was highly impressed with how quickly GoDaddy was able to get my site live.
First-time users can get a helpful tour to bring them up to speed on the platform, which is a neat touch. You’ll then be taken through some pretty routine questions, including which sections you’d like to include on your site.
First image: Get to grips with GoDaddy with a dedicated tour video. Second image: your GoDaddy site can have up to 50 pages, with 20 sections per page.
GoDaddy will let you edit the content, layout, and overall design, but I found its drag-and-drop tool to be quite unintuitive. In particular, I struggled to resize headers and images, and ran into some frustrating difficulties while trying to relocate different elements.
What AI features does GoDaddy have?
Here are some other AI features available with GoDaddy:
- Social media ad creation
- AI-powered social calendar
- Headline generator
- Domain search
- Logo generator
Is it easy to switch to GoDaddy?
Yes, it’s quite easy to start using GoDaddy for the first time. The platform has an intuitive onboarding process, although our researchers did note that navigation is a little tricky at first.
It’s also pretty easy to migrate your existing site over to GoDaddy, with a step-by-step guide available online that claims you’ll be able to complete the process in about an hour.
Can You Build a Website for Free Using AI?
Yes, you can build a website for free using AI with platforms like Wix and GoDaddy. While many believe AI features cost extra, these builders include their AI site creation tools in their free plans, allowing you to get a site live without paying.
However, free website builders come with a lot of other caveats that aren’t related to AI that could hamper the success of your site.
Check out our guide to the best free website builders for more info.
Can You Build a Website With Vibe Coding?
“Vibe coding” refers to platforms that allow users to generate apps, websites, and software without the need to code. It differs from a standard AI website builder in that you can adopt an iterative approach.
Building a website through vibe coding is a really simple process. Take Base44, for example. It’s a popular platform that enables you to generate an app or website from a simple written prompt. Base44 will take care of the look and feel for you, but you will be able to make adjustments via a handy drag-and-drop editor.
Once your website is built (which takes a matter of seconds), you’ll be able to push it live. On paid plans, this will include the ability to connect a custom domain. All in all, it’s certainly a viable alternative to using an AI website builder.
But with platforms like Wix letting you get started for free, and offering a range of website-specific and design features, we don’t really see the need to!
What are the limitations of AI website builders?
An AI website builder won’t be the best solution for everyone. In this section, I’ll run you through some of the biggest drawbacks of using an AI website builder:
- Design flexibility is rigid compared with building a website from scratch
- Vendor lock-in is a common problem
- Advanced AI features are often gated behind premium plans or paid add-ons
- Output can sometimes be quite generic, especially on less design-oriented platforms
We take our impartial research and analysis seriously, so you can have complete confidence that we're giving you the clearest, most useful product recommendations.
After conducting an initial exploration to identify the most relevant, popular, and established tools in the market, we put them through their paces with hands-on testing to see their real strengths and weaknesses. In this case, we put 16 website builder products to the test across 398 areas of investigation.
Based on years of market and user needs research, we've established a website builder testing methodology that scores each product in six core categories of investigation and 33 subcategories. This covers everything from customer feedback to design, ease of use, and more.
Our main testing categories for website builders are:
- Website features: The capabilities and functionalities offered by a website builder, e.g. blog functionality, SEO capability, and marketing capacity.
- Design functionality: The aesthetic appeal and visual layout of a website created using a website builder. It encompasses aspects such as page templates and customizable themes.
- Customer satisfaction: External customer opinion. This is the feedback and ratings given by customers who have used a particular website builder — the market position and reputation a website builder holds.
- User experience: How user-friendly and intuitive a website builder is for people with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Value for money: The balance between the cost of a website builder and the benefits it provides. It considers factors such as pricing plans, subscription models, and available features.
- Help and support: The assistance and resources available to users when they encounter issues or need guidance while using a website builder.
When it comes to calculating a product's final score, not all testing areas are weighted evenly, as we know some aspects matter more to our readers than others, which are simply “nice to have”. After hundreds of hours, our process is complete, and the results should ensure you can find the best solution for your needs.
At Tech.co, we have a number of full-time in-house researchers, who re-run this testing process regularly, to ensure our results remain reflective of the present day.
Verdict: What Is the Best AI Website Builder?
The best AI website builder is Wix, according to our in-depth research. We found that it offers an unmatched selection of AI features, allowing us to create a site from scratch after just a few questions.
Additionally, the platform provided us with a variety of generative AI features that made it easy to add content and images to the site and get insight into how the site performed when it comes to SEO.
However, as this guide has shown, it’s definitely not your only option when it comes to AI website builders. Squarespace, Hostinger, Shopify, and GoDaddy each offer AI features that can help you build a site — from content generators to image editors — so you can save time and focus on your business.
Other options like Wix and Squarespace can handle smaller stores, but could run into issues with larger inventories without some ecommerce infrastructure to go along with the AI-generated page.
