SpotHero’s Mark Lawrence on Building a Marketplace Business

Whether you're in a big city or a small town, parking is the worst. Fortunately, someone is trying to do something about it. Mark Lawrence is as the CEO and cofounder of SpotHero, an on-demand parking app and website that makes life easier for drivers by helping them find and reserve a parking sports for up to 50 percent off.

Mark Lawrence, along with his cofounders, started the company after managing to rack up thousands of dollars in parking tickets. After addressing the problem in a way that resonated with Chicago's hectic downtown parking environment, SpotHero has become one of Chicago's biggest consumer startup success stories. They raised $20 million in their Series B funding round last year, they're in 15 cities, and now they have a team of 120 employees.
